A hilarious film adaptation by Kawasaki Minoru of a parody of the famous 1970s novel Nihon Chinbotsu. Nihon Chinbotsu is the story of the Japanese people losing their homeland and being dispersed thro...( read more  read more... )ughout the world. Nihon Igai Zenbu Chinbotsu is the opposite: the whole world sinks except Japan. The world's survivors all scramble on the small little archipelago occupied by the xenophobic Japanese. With a Team America-like lineup of characters, all extreme stereotypes of their respective nations, one can't stop laughing! No one escapes the director's critique, from the traditional Japanese guy (who takes advantage of the situation and eats whale), to the Chinese/Korean leaders who suck up to Japan's Prime Minister, to the American Secretary of Defense who regrets not having started a coup d'etat in Japan, and etcetera.

Comedy that isn't overly funny and social commentary that isn't that provoking. Still, it's enjoyable and it's heart is in the right place (I thought it was going to be just another anti-America film, but it was harshest on Japan) and I did laugh a couple of times.

An amusing tale of how after a disaster wipes out the rest of the world, the survivors all come to Japan. Some hilarious moments to be had whilst watching including taking a pop at the world's superpowers.

il solito demenziale. situazioni improbabili, attori terribili, enfatizzazione e presa per il culo dei vari stati. stacchetti comici da lacrime.

I plan to watch this immediately after Nihon Chinbotsu/The Sinking of Japan(2006).

It took me almost 30 mins to figure out that it is actually a parody & comedy. But it's not an excuse persuasive enough to pardon the lousy settings and screenplay. And it's really puzzling to understand the motive of this film: is it meant to mock at the japanese, the non-japane...( read more)se (espeically americans & chinese & koreans), or both? Seems like the director is trying to convey some kinda messages through all those so-called gags, but i just don't have a clue --- call me stupid or whatever, i don't mind :)
Of the 2 stars, 0.5 is awarded solely to the scene in which Katherine, "wife of a Japanese", ran into "Jerry Cruise" on street; and the rest of 1.5 stars are for the ending with the candle lighting up the first moment of world peace at the last moment of the world's existence.
