Poorly executed? too clichéd? too silly? I couldn't care less about all that, It simply is a little, modest and loveable action/sci-fi pastiche with tons of fun.
Oh, you still don't like it? well, fuck you!

What lets They Live down is the ending. It feels rushed and unfinished. A sequel would have been good but its too late now. The other thing is the unfortunate recycling of props from other, more successful films (Ghostbusters being one). It's not a big problem though as the rest ...( read more)of the film makes up for it. A brilliantly realised original idea, with great comedy and the best fight scene ever filmed!! Brilliant and very quotable!

Excellent horror sci-fi flick and again what so many films are based around now, or copied.
The effects are great for the time as are the make up on the alien faces, truely spooky.
I love how the film is open ended to make your own mind up, no one really wins,
its really clever ...( read more)and well made.

John Carpenter's tale of a drifter who discovers a conspiracy by aliens who have infiltrated American society in the guise of wealthy yuppies which is the reason for the large gap between the rich and the poor. Roddy Piper stars as the homeless drifter who discovers how to see wh...( read more)o's a human and who's not with the help of special sunglasses he finds. They not only reveal the alien's true faces, but all of the subliminal messages in advertising.
A clever satire of the "greed is good" era enriched with good makeup effects, and a memorable, comical fight scene between former pro wrestler "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and Keith David a.k.a "Childs" in Carpenter's remake of The Thing.

I love this movie. Famous wrestler 'Hot Rod' Rowdy Roddy Piper starts seeing the world for what it is after he dons a pair of special sunglasses. The population is being mind controlled through subliminal messages everywhere by aliens from another world that are disguised as huma...( read more)ns. Now he's out to expose them to the world for what they really are. A sadly underrated John Carpenter movie. Piper is cool as the hero and his infamous line "I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass and ......I'm all out of bubblegum" is just one of the many funny one-liners in this movie. A very entertaining action movie.

Roddy Piper can do no wrong. Don't believe me; check out "Hell Comes to Frogtown".

Roddy Piper is great in this fun Carpenter flick. The plot when just reading it seems kind of corny but the acting/direction is executed so well that what you get is an entertaining movie that will keep your interest up throughout. Love the effects of the aliens and the way the...( read more) world look through the glasses. Piper should have gotten more and better roles then what he ended up getting for sure after this film.
