If you're a fan of - or ever wondered what JFK was like as a president, this is an awesome movie about an amazing president. The world is on the brink and JFK was able to keep us from going up in smoke! See what GWB would've done in the same spot - ya right!

I generally don't like Kevin Costner (he's the weakest link in this film, actually), but this movie is very suspenseful. Oh by the way, Costner's Baawwston accent is atrocious!

good movie, but it was dragged out too long and had no scenes of
combat *except a plane being shot at* the movie sort of just stepped back and looked at the goverment

Good. Some aspects of the acting detract from the amazing story, and parts are fictionalized (obviously so) for the sake of presentation, but I'm willing to overlook that in light of the historical importance of the story and the portrayal of leadership under pressure with a strong intellectual, self-questioning take.

This war movie (well... not quite a war thankfully) based on the Cuban Missle crisis is looked down upon by most viewers because of the lack of exaggerated drama and fictional romance. While I will admit I was bored through a portion of the movie I was kind of glad they focused more on the history lesson being taught than trying to make up some fake story to get a better audience reaction. Yes Kevin Costner's fake boston accent was annoying, and yes they could have cut out a portion of the movie to make it easier to watch in one sitting, but nonetheless there were some moments of dialogue that were incredibly inspiring and brilliant. At points I could almost feel the tension the US leaders were feeling at the time even though I already knew the outcome of the situation.

This is really quite dull and boring, which means it totally fails to capture the sense of urgency and drama of that period.

I was amazed that I had not seen this before now (2008). This falls into my realm of great movies - a thrilling, non-stop action, intelligent account of the Cuban missile crisis. I was a kid when it happened, and I had not heard many of the details, but if what the Kennedy administration had to go through was even half of what they showed in this movie, man are we all lucky they were there.

Not the most engaging political drama in the world but as people keep telling me "Real life isn't that interesting" and since most of the script is taken directly from the converstaions in real life Thirteen Days is testimant to that.

I find the Cuban Missle Crisis interesting and so I did enjoy learning more about what actually happened during that time but found the sheer amount of uninterrupted dialogue hard to digest and often lost my concentration.

Kevin Constner's accent is dire and really made it difficult to pay attention to what he was saying because I was too busy cringing at how bad it was. The actors playing the parts of JFK and Bobby both did a great job though.

02-18-08 --Thirteen days... I didn't know it would take that long to watch it! This movie would have at least been 3 1/2 stars if the movie wasn't so long. Just because it has JFK in it doesn't mean that it has to be as long as the movie JFK. Anyway, Kevin Costners accent was a little "out of place" and maybe even "forced". But it didn't detract from the movie after you got use to it. The person that played JFK was good and so was the person that played Bobby. Very interesting to see what could have happened if someone else was in charge. Good movie for you history buffs! Or you JFK fans out there.

Excelente producción de la película, aunque a veces puede resultar algo pesada o excesivamente patriótica (americana, por supuesto).

Gripping political thriller which manages to hold you transfixed at each turn despite knowing the eventual outcome. You can't get more dramatic than the intense stress these men were under to make crucial decisions for the future of mankind on earth. Beyond scary.

what should I say...... I think you need to be in the right mood to watch a political film and unfortunately I wasn't in the right mood.

Minus some of the language, this was a really good film. Strong acting and edge of the seat suspense. (even if you know what actually happened!)

I learned lotsw about the cuban missle crisis with this one. Scary thought about how Bush would handle such a situation.

Costner is very good in this one. Obviously he's better at being a "quiet" hero than a loud and macho one... A very good film, I liked every minute of it.

A fantastic movie, gripping, tense, for the most part historically accurate and terrifying in it's portrayal of how close the world came to nuclear war.

"Thirteen Days" Is the terrifying true story of the time that nearly saw nuclear conflict between the worlds two big superpowers in 1962. With the Cold War in full effect between the US and the USSR, tensions are strained when a U-2 pilot takes photos of what looks like nuclear weapon installations in Cuba. With evidence suggesting that the Russians are making missiles operational, and giving themselves the ability to kill eighty million Americans within five minutes notice, three men are left with the job of attempting to diffuse the situation - or going to war.

Although it weighs in at an excess of two hours, it rarely labours and in fact is more intriguing for the time that director Donaldson invests. Conrad Buff?s editing should be praised also. Political movies are easy to bog down in military guff and diplomatic boredom (?Clear and Present Danger?), but for a film so bereft of action scenes, it never becomes a chore to watch.

An excellent chronicle of the Cuban Missile Crisis - recommended.

A great movie based on a pivotal point in world and U.S. history. The actors are amazing... completely believable. The film makes it seem like the viewer is actually there. It's a great film and the DVD has tons of extras.

A tense, taught exploration of the behind-the-scenes activities of the Kennedy White House during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Despite criticism that it is historically inaccurate, the makers of the film relied heavily on tape recorded conversations from the time, a fact which undermines many of the critics' claims. Despite the fact we all know how it ended (we're still here after all) the film builds tension as to the final outcome. As a film about American politics, I would say it's on a par with "All the President's Men".

Costner single handedly keeps this from being 4.5 stars. The worst accent on film since Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

Fantastic film, positively engrossing. Being Canadian, it was very interesting to really get inside the minds of the leaders that helped steer the world from nuclear war. Greenwood gives a strong, dignified performance worth noting. Definitely recommended, just make sure you're prepared to think.
