I adore Natalie Wood and Robert Redford in this movie..The character she plays in this movie is so alluring..I pitty her situation and almost feel the desparation she must feel..When she's finally free of it..She's got this calming affect. And then the end goes to dramatically wrong..
Certainly has the makings of a classic with Redford, Wood, Pollack and T. Williams to boot. However, it comes across as just "above average", no more, no less.
I have watched this many times over the years, a favorite ol' chick-flick of mine - but a good one. One of Francis Ford Coppola's first screen plays - as adapted from Tennesse Williams one act play. Directed by Sydney Pollack. Up & coming stars galore to be found in this one. New Orleans a star itself in the second half of this movie. When ever I need a good snoty nosed half a box of tissues gone cry - I watch this. Doesn't matter how many times I watch it - cry at the end every single time. The first time I saw it I was a very little girl who wanted to grow up and be Natalie Wood, or Audrey Hepburn, or That Girl.
great story! gripping! keeps you on the edge of the seat entire time waiting what's gonna happen next. natalie wood was mesmerizing, and who can resist robert redford ???
