  Before the hammer...came the sword. So-So movie. The story wasn't that attracting to me at the end. The animation was pretty good I must say. I guess I don't really like Thor in his beginning adventures since he didn't have the hammer yet. Thor all grown up is what I really like. Watch if your fan, you'll enjoy his beginnings. Follow The Mighty Thor of Asgard on his first great adventure as he quests for the mythical Lost Sword of Surtur. With his brother Loki by his side and the swaggering Brothers Three to help fend off the forces of evil, Thor embarks on a clandestine treasure hunt that quickly turns treacherous. Upon discovering that the very future of Asgard hangs in the balance, the fearless warrior must prove his strength in order to embrace his magnificent destiny.

  This is a mixed bag of a cartoon. Has nothing to do with the movie that just came out. It's basically a small story of Thor and Loki as teenagers. Kids will probably love it, but adults who like Thor and Marvel in general, will probably just shrug like me and say "could have been better." The teenager thing is a different take on Thor, but it's not very interesting and honestly kind of pointless. Oh well, guess it could have been worse too.

  Really enjoyable movie covering the early years of Thor and Loki. This enhances the theatrical movie, without kissing it's ass. For example, it still takes many designs from the original source material, even if it conflicts with the more popular movie. Seeing the realms of Asgard in animation is wonderful, as there is less of a restraint. The character arcs of Thor and Loki are also very impressive. Their relationship is shown as one of true love, but we see their reactions to taking life. This isn't Thor Jr. and though the animation is kind of childish, there are many great themes here that would be welcome in The Avengers or any Thor sequels.

  Meh. Thor: Tales of Asgard isn't a great movie, but it's not terrible either. It's Thor Lite, Teenage Thor, Kiddie Thor, Thor 90210. The animation looks about on par with the rest of the Marvel animated movie line, though the voice actors (especially Thor and Loki) have distractingly British accents. I keep coming back to one question: is this a story anyone really needed to see? With the live action Thor film and his various appearances, I'd say no. We know who this person is, generally speaking. Head strong, bullish...we don't need to see him disobey his father and cause a major problem like other young characters have done before. Ultimately, there is too much going on here and not enough emotional resonance. Thor does almost everything wrong in this film and, in the end, he is forgiven because of one good decision.
