This slapstick farce features Dusty Bottoms (Chevy Chase), Lucky Day (Steve Martin), and Ned Nederlander (Martin Short), as three silent movie cowboy stars who get the axe from their Hollywood studio. Just at that opportune moment, a woman named Carmen (Patrice Martinez) asks them to come to her forgotten little town south of the border and do some work for her, for a tidy sum. Critic Reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

"It's the laziness of the project that's finally most galling."
‑ Dave Kehr, Chicago Tribune
"You know it's a boring comedy when you find yourself laughing only at the lead actors' costumes."
‑ Gene Siskel, Chicago Tribune
"So sweetly goofy that you can't keep from laughing."
‑ Ben Yagoda, Philadelphia Daily News
"The concept is a funny one, yet no one seems to have the faintest idea of what to do with it."
‑ , TV Guide's Movie Guide
"What may be unforgivable offenses in other films only bolsters Martin, Short and Chase, three comic geniuses who have made much more out of much less."
‑ Jason Newman, Bullz-Eye.com
"[Three Amigos is] a goofy delight. It's like a cross between a big-budget Three Stooges movie and a Hope-Crosby road picture, with dozens of old cowpoke gags thrown in to spice up the brew."
‑ Patrick Goldstein, Los Angeles Times
"The happy-go-lucky Three Amigos is a picture to see when your expectations are down and you've already been to everything that's good."
‑ Jay Boyar, Orlando Sentinel
"The premise is cute, the characters are endearing, and the wackiness of their predicament in the desert is almost enough to carry the film past dry spells of laughlessness. But the dry spells are frequent."
‑ Candice Russell, South Florida Sun-Sentinel
"Full of promise, the film sadly falls flat with corny jokes and clumsy execution."
‑ , Film4
"An uneven comedy; Short is based, talking about movie insider stuff to the people in the village who have no idea what he is talking about."
‑ Bob Bloom, Journal and Courier (Lafayette, IN)
"While it's occasionally funny, Three Amigos! isn't an entirely fun occasion."
‑ Carrie Rickey, Philadelphia Inquirer
"On the whole there's not a lot of flesh on these cynically haphazard bones."
‑ Pat Graham, Chicago Reader
"Landis directed with his customary heavy-handed comedy touch and encouraged his cast to giggle at their own inane shenanigans."
‑ , People Magazine
"Spoofy send up of Western films is OK for mature tweens."
‑ David Gurney, Common Sense Media
"...a genial hodgepodge of horseplay and saddle-sore jokes."
‑ Thomas Delapa, Boulder Weekly
