Critic Reviews

  • Derek Elley, Variety

3 Idiots takes a while to lay out its game plan but pays off emotionally in its second half.

  • Robert Abele, Los Angeles Times

There's an unavoidable joie de vivre (symbolized by Rancho's meditative mantra "All is well") and a performance charm that make this one of the more naturally gregarious Bollywood imports.

  • Michael Dequina, TheMovieReport.com

Very much a character-driven piece, which not only makes the laughs bigger but also earns a deeper involvement.

  • Louis Proyect, rec.arts.movies.reviews

A fabulous achievement across the board. A typical Bollywood confection but also social commentary on a dysfunctional engineering school system that pressures huge numbers of students into suicide.

  • David Chute, L.A. Weekly

A superstar for more than two decades, Aamir Khan has never been more popular than he is today, in his mid-40s.

None quite like it. It is captivating as well as being funny and a lot of lessons there to be found. Though definitely good, the ending is simply too good to be true. Nevertheless, it is a fine film with a lot of heart, a lot of soul and everything else.

I have a new love... cheesy Bollywood movies! This movie is such fun, it is like the 3 stooges with subtitles! Plus there is the gratuitous "meaningful moment that you see coming but still feel the heart strings plucked anyway. FUN, FUN, FUN!

Well, can't say how I'm amazed with this movie... It is true that I always underestimating Bollywood movies until I watched 'Slumdog Millionaire', but now I can say that India movie industry is growing admirably... They are keep making a really, totally good movie… More

The whole idea of this movie was good. Taken from real life. But the "baby" part was so cheap and ridiculous, I hate when anyone says "All is Well". That is another irritating thing. Joke? Lame.
