An ok attempt at trying to revive the heroic bloodshed wave. It's pretty much a Bullet in the Head remake, but while "Bullet" dedicated time to develope it's characters here everything feels rushed and by-the-numbers. Not bad, but it just feel like a very long deja vu of stuff th...( read more)at has been done before, and better. Honglei Sun once more steals the whole thing, and Shu Qi is Shu Qi.

Daniel Wu's role is understandably underwritten with only token romantic screen time, although his interest in Shu Qi's character is necessarily incidental in a world where the best girls must belong to the biggest bosses. A solo for permanent pouter Shu Qi is generous but fans w...( read more)ill remember this mostly for its stylised violence - dead giveaways to John Woo's celebrated handywork. Gunfights reminiscent of "A Better Tomorrow" were rousing although impossibly cool. John Woo never wants logic, he wants magic. In whatever way a man must die, be it by bullet or fountain pen, that man will die cold - but always in style.

    No thankyou - Not interested

Even though there was a couple of good things, more towards the end, this movie was very boring and bland. I had hard time trying to keep interested in this. Excellent production values, but even that couldn't save this movie.

A fantastic gangsta sort of film. I'm not really into those sort of Godfather movies, but this one moves me. Blood Brothers should never betray one another, it always ends in tragedy and tears. Wonderful acting and loveable characters, the scenes are soft and sharp at the same time.

It's a pretty decent film, but it still felt like another melodramatic action film that most of Asian cinema is famous for. It's still worth watching for a good story.
