Among the group is servant Marie-Sol, who prays to the Blessed Virgin for a baby; Marie's gentle husband Patrick, who, along with his friends, is unemployed; Marie-Sol's bartender brother and his girl friend Josefa, who works as a stripper at the Blue parrot where he works; Marie Sol's confused, crippled father, who doesn't know that the Spanish Civil War has ended.
