Dom za Vesanje
Yugoslavian Drama from 1988. Perhan (Dujmovic) lives with his wise grandmother Khatidza (Adzovic), his uncle Merdzan (Hasimovic) and his sick sister Danira (Sali) in a gypsy village in Slovenia. To win over his love Azra (Trpkova) he travels with the admired gangster Ahmed (Todorovic) to make a carreer in thieving, and return to win Azra over. But his dream is to be shattered. With Davor Dujmovic, Bora Todorovic, Ljubica Adzovic, Husnija Hasimovic and Sinolicka Trpkova. Written and Directed by Emir Kusturica and Gordan Mihic. -

Wow. What a score. I think this is the most touching story of betrayal and revenge, done in a so realistic manner, like some voyeur documentor was doing this. I absolutely loved this film.

It's very refreshing to see movies from different countries. This one is very interesting and original, though perhaps the English and Spanish titles aren't the most accurate. It's surrealistic, entertaining and very serious about its social themes.
