Based off of Yasutaka Tsutsui's novel, Masaaki Taniguchi successfully meshes time travel and drama into Time Traveller: The Girl Who Leapt through Time.
By the end of the film everything adds up into a nice story, despite some drag in the middle. The time travel concept is probably the most intriguing element of the movie; although this factor only comes into major play in the beginning and ending, leaving the middle feeling like a predictable drama.

What holds this film together are the character relationships and that extra dash of quirkiness, which is needed in this 2 hour picture where the pacing isn't exactly the speed of light. It doesn't move at a snail's pace either, so that is a plus.

Riisa Naka, who actually voiced the lead heroine in the 2006 animated rendition of Yasutaka Tsutsui's novel, brings enthusiasm to her role, which serves as a contrast to Akiyoshi Nakao's character.

When it comes to time travel there are always unanswered details and Time Traveller: The Girl Who Leapt through Time is no different. That shouldn't make this any less of a watchable film, so don't be afraid of approaching this one.
