Plot: A washed up golf pro working at a driving range tries to qualify for the US Open in order to win the heart of his succesful rival's girlfriend.
Kevin Costner could do this role in his sleep and Rene Russo is good in usually all her movies. Ron Shelton is an excellent director when it comes to sports movies. Don Johnson actually steals the movie as Costner's rival.
U DNT THINK I CAN MAKE THAT SHOT
IT'S A LOW PERCENTAGE SHOT
U THINK A GUY LIKE ME CARES ABOUT THE PERCENTAGE?
I DNT PLAY FOR SECOND!!
Just a usual sports movie about sports, in this movie told about golf, nothing special in it. Kevin Costner and Rene Russo just gave a light performance because it just a movie for entertaining, they don't need too good performances here, they just need the money... The story really standard using the formula from zero to hero, yet I watched the cut version of this movie so I didn't impress a lot, besides the fact that I'm not love golf sports... Just a movie for killing time...
Boring old golf always seems to lay a foundation for a decent film. Some good acting, but a fairly bad ending.
Cheech was the best part. The sad thing is that Costner had better chemistry with Johnson than he did with Russo!
I know this was filmed in AZ, but I always think of West Texas when I watch this. They've got the attitude down.
What do you get when you combine a bad script, bad acting and a boring subject? The movie "Tin Cup." I did, however, like Cheech Marin.
He plays the part of what I would like to see in a man--very fiesty--ornery--romantic and right to the point--
You can't ask for advice about the woman you're trying to hose FROM the woman you're trying to hose!
I'm a Kevin Costner sports movie fan. Love sports, love his sports movies. A very athletic actor who seems to understand sports.
THIS GET ON MY GIRLFRIEND NERVES AND IT SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOT IT ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
enjoyable comedy from start to finish. costner is good but not outstanding but to be fair he never needs to be anything over than just good for this film.
cheech marin steals the show for me and good performance from russo as the love interest.
No, Dances With Wolves is not Kevin Costner's best performance, (at least to me). He plays love-troubled, driving range pro Roy "Tin Cup" McAvoy in this golf flick. Tin Cup is one of the most underrated sports' movies ever! No poor performances stick out, and Rene Russo, Cheech, and Kevin Costner shine. The movie also has one of the most hilarious, cringing, and memorable endings ever, but the best part has to be the bet with Craig Stadler and Phil Mickelson.
For the last time you stupid, stupid man - LAY UP! Oh and the rest of the movie isn't very good either.
Kevin and Rene are so together in this movie. I watched it and it was very realistic. Kevin is a great actor and nailed it in this film. Rene is a great actress. A great movie!

I'm one of those people who didn't like Bull Durham, and I don't care much for Tin Cup either. It tries to hard to capture the eccentricity of Bull Durham and only manages to come off as unrealistic. Despite some fun moments when Costner is actually playing golf, this romCom is slow and dull.
Awesome movie about golf and the behind the scenes aspect of what you never see when watching it on tv
i brought accedently thinking it was something eles and felt disapoointed when i saw it was about golf, but i was plesnetly surprised when i watched it. it is great if you like films like happy gilmore but with less comedy
Even if you´re not a big fan of golf this is a very good film. I mean...Kevin Costner is one of the actors...and have you ever seen him acting in a bad movie?!
is there at least one movie where costner isn't playing some washed up, tortured jock?! but the movie was good.
Not every person will go for their dreams and risk everything they have. Not many people would risk everything they had after they had lost it once before doing the same thing. This is a story about Golf, the US open, and a man who went for it.
This board looks lonely. Be the first to talk about "Tin Cup" !
