Entertaining adventure Hitchcock tale.
83/100
Usually the combination Grant - Hitchcock is a winner, at least for me, but I had some reserves about this movie. I wasn't won over by the story, that at times drags, the ending was rushed and unsatisfactory. Also, the acting wasn't that good, a very tanned looking Grant wasn't u...( read more)
To Catch a Thief is a charming movie but quite different to other Hitchcock films. Other Hitchcock films made in the 50s like Vertigo, Dial M For Murder and Rear Window (Grace Kelly being in the last two) have strong story lines, brilliant camera-work and suspense. To Catch a Thi...( read more)
a cheesy sequence with kissing and fireworks, with a meaningful story and witty lines at times makes this an enjoyable film, who is playing who you may thing as two leading stars are brought together in a hitchcock mediocre thriller which he has said not to take this film serious...( read more)
Cary Grant and Grace Kelly's chemistry is dynamic! Have on DVD. I saw it again, 4th of July Weekend 2009.
Again Hitchcock uses the young beautiful Grace Kelly. The plot doesn't work so well today -- a bit hard to swallow- but the scene where Kelly first kisses Cary Grant at her hotel room door is one of those great moments in cinema. A Must See..
Slow to start and easily predictable, but dammit if Cary Grant makes anything above average. Hitch really lays it on for the finale and by the end you don't care that you already know the thief.
Synopsis: This minor 1955 work by Alfred Hitchcock, one of the lighter entries of his creative peak in the 1950s, is still imbued with the master's stock themes of shared guilt and romantic ambivalence. It is also hardly lacking in Hitchcockian cinematic
Good Hitchcock thriller with Grace Kelly and Cary Grant looking great and giving good perfomances
certainly not the most invigorating Hitchcock film, but it's not without its nuances of comedy and suspense. the plot was a lot slower and less interesting than I expected, and the characters were minimally memorable at best. nonetheless, it's hard to argue with Cary Grant and ...( read more)
Another Hitchcock collaboration. Grant, again, perfect for the role! This film pairs him with Grace Kelly. soon to be Princess Grace.
Hitchcock-Lyte. Combination of Cary Grant's screwball-ish comedic style, Grace Kelly's timeless beauty, and Alfred Hitchcock's unmatched mastery of suspense. This isn't nearly as serious as Rear Window or North by Northwest but it was never intended to be. Comedi...( read more)
this was brilliant. simple in its beauty, sophisticated in its style. easy enough (slow) plot to follow the actors a lot more in those days and not really a mystery exept for that stirring 'Sounds Of The Times' to announce as a reminder that it actually is one ...are you followin...( read more)
this movie was just alright for me not one of my favorites but I did not hate it though.
The acting is good, but as far as Hitchcock goes, it's not the most suspenseful of his movies. There is some gorgeous scenery in this movie.
For Hitch, pretty routine, but pleasant. With an hilarious perf by Jesse Royce Landis.
Classic Hitchcook :) A very good movie. Cary Grant and Grace Kelly have great chemistry on screen.
Like most of Hitchcock this is a film that withstands repeated viewings. A light crime farce it is nevertheless full of great Hitchcock touches- a particular favorite of mine is the chase through the flower market with Cary Grant's comic encounter with the old flower seller

i really enjoy most Hitchcock films. and this was very good plus Cary Grant always does well
It wasn't bad but I think it's my least favorite Hitchcock film up till now. Doesn't mean you should miss it, though. You should definetly "catch" it sometime... (pun intended)
To say this is a thriller is a bit off the mark, I would rather say this is a suspense comedy, it isn´t a full blown com,edy of course but it is one of Hitchcock´s funniest he ever did and it is also one filled with alot of effortless class. Cary Grant and the beautiful Grace Ke...( read more)
This is my favourite of the old fun chic 50's film. A sheer vacation, with brilliant filmmaking to booth. Plus Grace Kelly has never been more beautiful.
