I saw just half of it, and didn't liked it very much. Maybe I should have watched it a bit more. The main reason I started watching was Hawke and Washington anyway.

Training Day was the movie that earned Denzel Washington a well-deserved Oscar and introduced us to a different side of the beloved actor. Training Day spawned such famous quotes as, "King Kong ain't got shit on me!!" and openend the door to Denzel for such roles as Frank Lucas, a Harlem druglord in "American Gangster".Other than Denzel's performance this film is good. Denzel's antics kept me entertained and there was good dialogue as well. Ethan Hawke had one of his best performance as an innocent rookie cop who could never imagine the events unfolding during his training day and their outcomes.
This movie is great, he just showed how people actually live there lives. I am glad he won an Oscar for this but there are other movies he should of won an oscar for too.
"Training Day throws the rules out of the window and hits you in the face with a brutal and highly entertaining story of good cop/bad cop as we are taken on an urban trip of one day on the job for rookie narcotics officer Jake Hoyt (Ethan Hawke) and his training officer Alonzo Harris (Denzel Washington) and When Harris begins to cross the line, Jake finds himself willing to look the other way"
I missed the boat on this one. I have no idea why this would be a good movie. The fact that I can't stand to watch Ethan Hawke in anything doesn't help either.
i never ever think Denzel washinton can potray a cruel and wicked character, but well he did! and he act so great that it is one of his most memorable perfomance till date! total recomended!
Denzel Washington is great and rather scary in his role. He fully deserved the oscar he won for the part he played. Macy Gray is awsome too. I was on the edge of my seat for most of the movie.
,,alonzo harris: ...you motherfuckers... okay... alright... i' m putting cases on all you bitches. you think you can do this shit... jake! you think you can do this to me? you motherfuckers will be playing basketball in pelican bay when i get finished with you. SHU program, nigga... 23 hour lockdown... i' m the man up in this piece. you' ll never see the light of... who the fuck do you think you' re fucking with? i' m the police, i run shit around here. you just live here. yeah, that' s right, you better walk away. go on and walk away... cause i' m gonna burn this motherfucker down. king kong ain' t got shit on me. that' s right, that' s right... shit, i don' t, fuck... i' m winning anyway, i' m winning... i' m winning any motherfucking way. i can' t lose. yeah, you can shoot me, but you can' t kill me!" in a city where streets are overrun by drug dealers, those who have sworn to uphold the law are breaking it. denzel washington plays l.a.p.d. detective alonzo harris, a veteran narcotics officer whose methods of enforcing the law are corrupt. training day follows harris as he trains rookie jake hoyt (ethan hawke) over a period of 24 hours.
I really wasn't expecting much from this movie. I thought it looked like a generic good cop / bad cop flick about taking it to the streets, like a crappy Miami Vice. Fortunately, I was very wrong.
The film follows Jake Hoyt (Ethan Hawke) as he auditions for a spot in the LAPD Narcotics unit led by Alonzo Harris (Denzel Washington). The entire film takes place over the course of one day as Hoyt tries to come to grips with the way a narc works and what kind of things he must be prepared to do if he gets accepted into this prestigious group. Ultimately, Hoyt has trouble doing this, but Harris has faith that the rookie can eventually lead the group should he retire. What separated this movie from other "buddy cop" flicks was that it didn't fall into the usual dry plot of hunting the dirty criminal. The movie really made you question who the criminals really were. What do you do when the line between good and evil is blurred or non-existent?
Training Day is a truly great film. Upon it's completion, I looked back on it and realized that there wasn't an ounce of fat on the picture. Every piece of dialogue, every scene, every cut was needed and came into play when everything wrapped up at the end. Everything worked together to tell the story and to develop the characters in the span of one day. I think that's such a rare occurrence in recent movies. Many movies have scenes that drag and sort of take you out of the movie. Training Day didn't do this though. Each scene worked to establish the movie and the characters. Overall, very enjoying film.
This movie mark a change in Mr Washington. The roles that he played in the past was always the good person and never the bad. Denzel Washington did a very good job !_! It is a must see movie.
1 of Denzel's grittiest ventures - but NOT his best work - should have gotten the OSCAR for JOHN DOE - now that movie makes u . . . think about REAL LIFE!!! SPEAKIN OF REAL LIFE - have u checked my site? - http://www.myspace.com/breadwinnaz real life music - NOT BULLTISH FAKE GANGSTA MESS!
