However the original wasn't worth writing home about anyhow so the compliment is minimal. It split opinions, this sequel has caused the same debate. The problem at heart with The Transporter movies is that an opinion on them depends on patience and sympathy towards non sensical, over the top, illogical exploitation movies. The first film worked within an inch of it's teeth, simply, because Jason Statham was in it. Genuinely he's just a guy who's good at what he does. He was the perfect man for the lead in this franchise. If there is anyone who can play a post hero man on the edge, I would point him out of the crowd. On the technical side of things, this is loads more slicker than the original. It's more action packed (that's saying something), has better acting, and producer Luc Besson actually puts a plot into the mix. But the cartoonish and lightfooted second unit directing and illogical plot points genuinely test your patience. The first film did the same but not to this extent. There's only so much you can get away with. Luc Besson has managed to escape narrative logic on many occassions eg. Taken, District 13. Thankfully, he does it again here. The film allows you to relax into it's absurdities before going all out fantastical on you. It's also a bonus that the direction is superior to it's predecessor due to the addition of visual flare. It's definitely worth pointing also that supporting villian Kate Nauta is brilliant. Overall, it's better constructed than the first one and succeeds overall as light hearted entertainment. At least for me anyway, due in most part to my belief in Statham, and that he fits into the role like a jigsaw. However if anyone else played the transporter character, it would never have worked the first time. I've unashamedly got a bit of a soft spot for the absurdidness fun of this franchise, but that's more than I can say for a number of people.

  I must applaud Kate Nauta for her role as Lola, the film's main antagonist. Remember the female cyborg from TERMINATOR 3: RISE OF THE MACHINES? Or the Catwoman from BATMAN RETURNS? Nauta's character is similar to those characters in too many ways: her appearance is slick, creepy, and demented. Even better, this was her first role in film. Sadly, Nauta's performance cannot hold up for an entire 90 minutes, even if that really is not long at all. Though strong, she has already begun using the same tricks again by the time the 70-minute mark hits.   Transporter 2 is very much like the first transporter but with a huge dollop of fromage. It's very knowing though as the tongue is very much in cheek and it's all the better for not taking itself too seriously. I like the way continued the buddy aspect with Inspector Tarconi from the first film, although it does make for a confused character in Frank Martin. Matthew Modine has fallen on hard times it seems ans why is Keith David so overlooked. Nice to see Jason Flemyng teaming up with Jason Statham again though!

  Frank Martin will get the job done, even if it means taking half of Miami with him. This is faster and more action packed than the first, it's really a different movie all around. For what it is, it's perfect. Jason Statham annihilates goon after goon without ever using a weapon, well except a hose at one point. The car stunts quite literally defy logic, but somehow it makes sense in this world. Kate Nauta channels the soul of Brigitte Nielsen and proves to be Frank's biggest adversary and she's probably one of the best elements to the movie. I like sequels that try something new and this is definitely one of those sequels.

  A bit better than the first, but not by much, this is a rediculous film with nothing new or creative to add to the mix. The action sequences are so confusing at times that they hurt your eyes and make you think twice about thinking that this film is awesome. The acting is terrible, the plot is stupid and the overall film is a failure. Worth mentioning is Kate Nauta, she sunk the film even futhur with her terrible acting skills, and she's definitely not a good actress, plus her face looked like a shoe in the film. The action sequences are done so fast that you don't understand whats going on, the film doesn't even seem to give you enough time to understand whats going on, and just when you start making sense of things, it falls back down into a big mess. Another bad one here.

  <i>Transporter 2</i> is nothing more than an action adventure to pass the time. It isn't fantastic, but it isn't bad.<p>This is <i>Transporter 2</i>, so there obviously is a movie before this one. This particular film stands on its own, so watching or even knowing of the first installment doesn't even matter. The only thing connecting the two is Jason Statham's character, Frank Martin.</p><p>There isn't much to the plot and that isn't surprising. <i>Transporter 2</i> is an 80 minute movie that blows by. There is a good guy kicking butt to take down a bad guy. That's all there is to it. OK, there is a little more to it than that. Not much more to warrant a description though.</p><p>There is a ton of action and that is why this film moves as quickly as it does. The fights and vehicle chases, albeit unrealistic at times, are quite entertaining. The character of Frank Martin puts objects to good use, like Jackie Chan, and the choreography isn't that bad either. Who would have thought a fire hose could come in handy when there is no fire around?</p><p>Jason Statham matches the Frank Martin character, but he isn't winning any awards for this. That isn't a problem. The problem are the villains. The typical useless thugs and what not are easily forgettable. Even Alessandro Gassman as the top villain isn't worth noting. The characters are created by Luc Besson, so there has to be at least one that stands out in this picture. That character is Lola, who is played by Kate Nauta. Seriously, it is pretty difficult to forget a woman in lingerie with 2 guns a blazing.</p><p><i>Transporter 2</i> isn't a classic, however it is for people that are looking for an action movie to just sit back and watch.

  Sure the story has been told a million times before in various forms and most of the stunts have been done before....but it's so much more fun when Frank Martin (Statham) does it. All of the "suave yet tough" attitude of James Bond with the crazy "anything goes" techniques of Jackie Chan. Good (albeit mindless) action packed fun.

  <i>"The Best In The Business Is Back In The Game."</i> Frank Martin (Jason Statham) is a former special-forces officer who will transport anything anywhere for a price, and his latest assignment is acting as chauffeur for Jack Billings (Hunter Clary), the young son of politician Jefferson Billings (Matthew Modine), who has garnered no small amount of controversy for his aggressive efforts to stamp out the trade in illegal drugs. One day, Frank is to take Jack to the doctor for a checkup while his mother, Audrey (Amber Valletta), sets up a birthday party for the tyke. However, Jack's doctor is not who he appears to be -- he's actually Dimitri (Jason Flemyng), a Russian agent well versed in viruses who works with criminal kingpin Gianni (Alessandro Gassman). After a long and hard-fought chase with Frank, the bad guys get ahold of little Jack and hold him for ransom. The parents comply with their monetary demands and soon have their son back at home -- but little do they know that the boy has secretly been injected with a deadly and easily spread virus, which the terrorists hope to spread to the boy's powerful father and other politicians whom Jefferson will soon be addressing at a public event. When Frank learns what has happened to young Jack, he sets out to find the culprits -- and the antidote that will save the boy and all others who have been exposed to the virus from dying a painful death -- though his foes have stacked the deck so that it looks as if Frank has been complicit in the crime. <b><u>Review</u></b> Let me start by saying that I ranked the original Transporter a 7 out of 10. This one probably deserves a 5 out of 10, but I'm grading it a 6 for the film's energy, upbeat music, and for Jason Statham performing admirably with a less than stellar script. In general, there are some scenes that are just completely unrealistic, and I mean beyond the normal suspension of belief one normally checks at the door when seeing a movie. There is much less martial arts in this sequel, and the fight scenes are no way near the quality and cool feel of the original movie. And of course, just my opinion, but the first half of the movie seemed more crisp and the plot was okay, but the second part the plot just doesn't work as well, and it seems rushed and unsatisfying.

Wish there was more I could write about it, but nothing really stood out so it's gonna have to do with this short and concise review. What I can say, however, is that it's worthwhile, even if it failed to impress me.

  TRANSPORTER 2 isn't going to win any awards for its story (whatever happened to Luc Besson anyway?), but for a fun action movie it's about as good as 2005 offered. Jason Statham reprises the role of Frank Martin, a driver with impressive skills in or out of his car. The 2nd film is at least as silly as the first, and not quite as corny in the script, making it a very entertaining way to pass 80 minutes. Obviously the aim of the film is to capture some of the style of "Golden Era" Hong Kong action films, and Jason Statham does a great job with the help of Cory Yuen's choreography, which is very imaginative and clever (though he reuses a few ideas, e.g. the hosepipe from KISS OF THE DRAGON). Unfortunately the film is blighted by "Hollywood-Style" camera work and editing, which detracts from the choreography... westerners still haven't learnt how to shoot a fight scene as well as a Hong Kong crew (despite having 10x the budget available to do it)... too many closeups, shaky camera that goes against the movement of the action and editing which obscures rather than emphasises what's going on. I'd love to see the action scenes re-edited by one of HK's premier action film editors. Still, small quibbles really since Hong Kong has pretty much stopped making action films this fun anyway, and TRANSPORTER 2 is still plentifully entertaining as it is :)

Just like the first, but with the added help of crazy, over-the-top action scenes that throw any kind of standard out the window. The action gets to points that are so ridiculous, if you have problems with it, you might as well not have come to see a sequel to The Transporter. Jason Statham returns as the Transporter to act very cool once again in the midst of a ludicrous plot to get a lot of money through the use of not only a virus but the antidote as well, but the movie is extremely well paced, with almost no dead time, a lot of fun and just as good if not better than the first. The complete guy movie attitude that every character has is also a big plus. So many little things that mix the ideas of this being a slick modern day action flick, with the big muscle flicks of the 80s. Frank Martin: I'm afraid that your flight's been canceled. Gianni: I'm afraid that *you* have been canceled! You then get the added bonus of Matthew Modine of all people in a supporting role, a wannabe pop singer playing the evil chick, Statham's pal Jason Flemyng as an evil sidekick, and a fight in a tail spinning jet plane. Stupid, silly fun. [about to fight carjackers] Frank Martin: Hold on. Just came out of the dry cleaners. [he removes his jacket and fights the carjackers]

  A Horrible sequal. Even though the first was bad, this was even worse than the first one. Bad acting, terrible plot, stupid effects, too much unexplanable scenes. This is a no see.
