Transporter 2 Reviews and Ratings

Not as good as the first. The transporter had become merely a driver and the story line is very very common. Hope transporter 3 would make Jason Statham just a passanger !!

    uno de mis actores favoritos
  • October 15, 2009
Very silly action. This movie has many huge plot holes, fast driving scenes and moments where bad girls happen to find it more convenient to strip down to their underwear before they start shooting people.

Not the worst way to spent a couple of brainless hours.

Just a film to enjoy with action, but although that, it doesn´t give so much entertaining. It´s funny to find how nowadays heroes are almost indestructible, it would have been easier for heroes in 80s or 90s, that were just human beings. The best thing: Kate Nauta, so hot that on...( read more)e would like to be killed by her, XD. Anyway, that´s not enough to create a good film.

The films of this series may not be heralded with any sorta of critical acclaim, yet they offer high-octane action and some thrills that make them quite enjoyable. In this 2nd installment, the villains are more memorable than the first and the action is generally ramped up---a wi...( read more)nner.

The Best In The Business Is Back In The Game.

Jason Statham delivers kick ass moves in a film that should have toned down the over the top action.

Frank Martin, a professional transporter, has recently taken up a low risk job transporting a youn...( read more)g boy named Jack Billings, who is the son of a wealthy couple. He takes the boy to and from school, and to any other appointments he needs attending to. Frank has taken a special liking to the child and the same goes for his mother Audrey, who has been having marital problems with her husband Jefferson. Frank doesn't take advantage of anybody and that includes Audrey's feelings for him. The Jefferson family's ties are going to be tested the minute their son is kidnapped by an international crime boss named Gianni Chellini who plans on infecting the boy with a virus and holding him for ransom. Frank's skills are going to be pushed to the limit if he is going to save Jack's life in time, as well as the well being of the Billings family. Chellini's plan may be smart but he has made the single biggest mistake of his life by fucking with Frank Martin, the best damn transporter in the business.

Transporter 1 was certainly pushing the envelope with Frank Martin kicking ass in utterly insane ways. Transporter 2 totally takes the series into over the top (OTT) action scenes with a simple minded plot that is something akin to Man on Fire (2004) starring Denzel Washington. Louis Leterrier certainly knows how to deliver action scenes, just look at his craft in the 2008 reboot The Incredible Hulk. Transporter 2 went in the wrong direction and should have grounded Frank Martin a bit more in realism. This 2005 action film had a budget of $32 million and took in $85,167,639 worldwide at the box office.

Portraying Frank Martin for the second round is Jason Statham, an accomplished martial artist, talented actor, and a guy who certainly hits the gym a lot. Frank Martin still adheres to his code of ethics that ultimately helps him stay alive in his dangerous job. His latest mission of saving young 6 year old Jack has gotten personal since he cares for the boy and his family, and doesn't want to see the idiotic Gianni Chellini to win this battle. Jason Statham is really the only reason to sit through this flick thanks to his on-screen charisma, excellent martial arts moves and stunt work, and his delivery of the Frank Martin persona.

Gianni Chellini (Alessandro Gassman ) and his mistress Lola (Kate Nauta), are probably one of the most ugliest couples in an action film like this. Gassman looks like a person like his last name says and Nauta has way too much makeup on, is borderline anorexic, and for some reason always fires two sub machines guns with her underwear on all the time. The Billings family actors are not that bad and display their characters good enough just as they were written in the script. François Berléand returns as Inspector Tarconi who has become little more than a Hawaiian shirt wearing cook who assists from the offices of the U.S. Marshals. Keith David was in this flick as Stappleton, an office looking for Jack Billings, but he is underused and probably would have had good chemistry with Statham if they had a scene together.

The action scenes here do not recognize the laws of physics. Cars seem to accelerate in mid air, Statham can turn a fire hose into a weapon of death, and airplanes roll around like a dog if two people are fighting inside one of them. The filmmakers went nuts with just throwing physics out the door and delivering over the top action scenes in hopes of selling tickets. The story isn't complicated at all with the lame villains and the straightforward plot. The music works pretty well with the fight scenes, something an action flick like this never gets wrong.

Leterrier and co. should have respected the audience's intelligence a bit more instead of making a cheap action flick that would satisfy teens looking for a quick movie fix on a Friday night. This one is really only recommended for OTT action lovers, Transporter and Statham fans.

Makes the first one look like an Oscar nominee, and that's really saying something. It really goes to show how dumb and easily amused the mainstream movie-watching public is to largely regard this movie as being entertaining and about equal to the original. It's god awful to a si...( read more)lly and almost offensive degree in every single way. The plot is out of the blue and terrible and doesn't even involve Frank Martin's transporter occupation/lifestyle. The acting is pretty awful too, which you should expect but it's still hard to swallow. And it's another one of those movies where you see the hero surrounded by like 20 or 30 enemies, and you're like "Wow, how is he gonna get himself out of this one?!" and it just turns out that the answer is simply that no more than two enemies are going to attack him at one time while the rest just hang back and wait for their turn. Overall completely over the top in a really stupid way.

The first sequel in the Transporter franchise obeys all of the rules of sequels ? bigger budget, bigger death count, more gloss, and at least one more lingerie-clad hottie with two hand-held machine guns. It's otherwise exactly the same movie as the original, with a few ne...( read more)gligible plot modifications. But beyond the just-add-water instant action movie beginning, it at least ultimately proves to be another example of the over-the-top action extravaganza that the series has come to be known for. The movie works because it knows not to take itself seriously, and while this prohibits it from anyone in the audience being in danger of taking anything seriously, it doesn't stop it from being fun. Because while the plot is actually a little more complex than you would expect from a movie like this, it doesn't slow down for very long to give you time to think about anything. It moves frantically from one action set piece to the next, balancing out the preposterous action sequences with greater emotional involvement than the original movie. Transporter 2 is exactly the same thing as the original movie. It has all the same ingredients but in slightly different quantities.
