Tremors is basically Jaws on land set in a one horse town. A fun favourite!

Valentine McKee: That's how they git you. They're under the god damned ground!

I'm not sure how this gained such a cult following, but its a lot of stupid horror fun that features Kevin Bacon, which isn't a bad thing...unless your watching Footloose.

Earl Bassett: Stupid son-of-a-bitch, knocked itself cold!
Valentine McKee: Cold, my ass, he's dead! We killed it. We killed it! *Fuck you!*

I saw Tremors, again today. It just reminded me that I love everything about this movie.
I love the cast of this film. Kevin Bacon as Valentine McKee, trying so hard to be the bad ass long haired cowboy. Yeehaw. You know if a movie has Fred Ward in it, it is bound to be a blockb...( read more)uster. You also have to love country superstar Reba McEntire and Family Ties dad Micheal Gross, as Heather and Burt the super packing NRA enthusiasts.
Sure, the acting in this movie is horrible, the dialogue is weak, and they never do explain why their little town is attacked by three huge mutant flesh eating worms (slight plot hole). But, you have to love everything that is the pure, classic, horror cheese of Tremors. Kudos, Ron Underwood!

"Roger that Burt, and congratulations. Be advised, however, that there are two more, repeat, two more mother humpers!"

"The monster movie that breaks new ground."

Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward are the stars, a pair of small-town handymen living in a small desert community, who stumble upon several difficult-to-explain phenomena, including a couple of people who've died under extremely strange...( read more) (and, in one instance, very grisly) circumstances. Eventually, they and a handful of their neighbors find the cause: gigantic prehistoric worm-like creatures that streak under the desert the way fish swim through oceans, reaching up and grabbing anything they need for food. Cut off from the outside world, they have to figure out how to get across the desert alive while these creatures -- that are smart as well as fast -- close in on them, stalking them like monster sharks.

I really enjoyed this film. Being made before visual effects became really sophisticated it has to rely on being imaginative, well shot, written and acted. It succeeds with the monster by not showing that much and what we do see is real enough to make it believable. The pace of the film is fast and this helps maintain the suspense, I found myself caught up in the action and on the edge of my seat at times.

The relationship between Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward works very well, it's funny and very down to earth, in fact all the acting is top notch. Even dear old Reba, who gets to also sing a song over the credits. The cinematography was also excellent capturing the beauty and drama of the country. So well worth a watch

Fantastic B-movie horror/comedy with some genuinely creepy moments. The cast are fun (wow Kevin Bacon looks young) and there are genuine laughs to be had. The effects look a little dated now, but that's part of the fun with B-movies. Surprisingly great script makes this better th...( read more)an most of its kind and it spawned 3 sequels (which I suspect may suck). Sure it's a bit cheesy, but in all the best ways. Loved it as a kid and it still hraces my DVD collection. Grab it!!!

    Hello:
Tremors is one of those feel good movies that I always tell people to add to their "must see" list. This movie is very well done for a somewhat low budgeted flick and the story moves along smoothly and quickly, not bogging down at all. The small cast was very well chose...( read more)n and all put on excellent performances.
The chemistry between Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward as the characters Val and Earl is just amazing. They could have easily turned out a whole series of buddy movies as the two bumbling modern day cowboys/handy men.
And the monsters, straight out of a 1950's monster movie flick. Giant worms of unknown origin with a taste for anything that moves...Well hell, they got my vote.
The script continuity in this movie is flawless, the directing top notch.
"Tremors" is, well, the name of the town says it all...Perfection.
    Have a Great Day!!!
