Plot: Dan Curtis, the creator and producer of such out-of-the-ordinary TV classics as the willfully offbeat gothic soap opera Dark Shadows and the proto-X-Files series The Night Stalker...( read more read more... ), remains best known for the Zuni fetish doll that terrorizes Karen Black in Trilogy of Terror. The wild-eyed doll, with its snapping jaws and screeching yells, borders on camp, yet its relentless attacks and single-minded, homicidal drive make it an absolutely terrifying figure in the climactic chapter of this trilogy of short films based on stories by Richard Matheson. In the first story, "Julie," Karen Black plays a mousy college professor blackmailed by an obsessed student, and in "Millicent and Therese" she plays sisters consumed with an intense hatred of one another that comes to a head when their father dies. Both of these films conclude with Twilight Zone-ish twists and are more clever than gripping, kept alive mostly by Black's gleefully theatrical performances. With "Amelia," however, Black delivers an almost solo show, playing against the famous Zuni fetish doll, a wooden statue that comes to life when the a protective chain slips off the figure and releases the evil spirit. Curtis turns her apartment into a claustrophobic cage trapping the increasingly hysterical woman as the unstoppable figure hacks at her legs with a kitchen knife and chomps down on her arms and neck with the relentless intensity of a bulldog. It's still a classic of small-screen horror. --Sean Axmaker

Out of the three movies, the last was the best one with the Voodoo doll! That little thing was the creepiest monster I've ever seen when I was a kid, and even watching this movie in mid day time still scared me. It was pretty awesome and to this day, it still creeps me out. ;)

Guilty pleasure. If you enjoy seeing wacked out cheeseball 70s stars like Karen Black get her ass kicked by tiny Zuni fetish dolls...then watch this.

This was an ABC made-for-TV movie in 1975. The first two segments are generally forgettable, thanks to the indelible impression left by the third segment on anyone who sees this.

I watched this when I was 3 and it scared me so badly, the story with the tikki doll sent me into panic mode for quite some time. I haven't seen since then, so not sure if it actually is scary to an adult. But if you are three, watch out lol

The best horror TV movie ever. Karen Black give a tour de force. This is trilogy of three creepy stories. The last one with the devil doll is classic and people still talk about it after all these years.

The last part of this one scared the crap outta me. It has stayed with me until this day. The other parts were OK but the last was the best of the "Terror".

Great performances (4 of them) by Karen Black. Unlike most, I haven't seen this movie as a child so there is no trauma associated with it. But I have to admit that the final shot is one of the creepiest I've seen in a long time. Not bad for a 70's tv movie...

Perhaps I give it more credit than it deserves, but this movie is one of the best made for TV horror movies and features the best killer doll in cinema.

From Dan Curtis (creator of vampire soap opera Dark Shadows) and based on three tales from author Richard Matehson, Trilogy of Terror stars Karen Black in three horror tales: one about a succubus, one about a split personality, and the last about a malicious zuni fetish doll.

Made for TV, this is completely tame and pretty passable stuff, at least until that third story which offers enough entertainment to redeem the slower pacing and predictibility of the two tales that came before it.

Only the 3rd story (Zuni Fetish Doll) is worth it. I saw this when I was 4 years old on TV. I remember my mom shrieking at the top of her lungs. Extra star for sentamentality.

If you can find it, rent it! The 3rd story is the best and most favored of its cult status. They don't make made-for-TV movies like this anymore!
