OK thriller, but you saw the ending coming long before it got there.

(2004 Director: Philip Kaufman) Intense suspense thriller starring the lovely Ashley Judd, Andy Garcia, Bill Duke, Samuel L. Jackson, to name a few.

    "Every murder has a mark."

I was disappointed with this film--it was predictable from the get-go and seemes "hokey". Andy Garcia's performance was wonderfully dark and 'twisted', but that might be its only redeeming element. For being a crim-drama/thriller, there was a surprising lack of dramatic cinemat...( read more)ography and lighting. There were also some inconsistencies in the writing (such as scenes with no follow-up). The film was too formulaic to have any suspense in it.

    better than i expected

Quite a dark psycological thriller, kept my interest I must say. I do enjoy watching Andy Garica and Samuel L Jackson in movies which is what drew me to this one. Its not the best movie in the world, but I enjoyed the darkness of the film and trying to guess who was to blame.

One of the worst films ever.

There was kind of a lot of star power here but it wasn`t a great movie. It`s very late night TV movie with "mind trickery" and red herrings aplenty.

The killer`s motive was a bit weak in the end and for a sharp, tough cookie, Ashley Judd`s character isn`t very quick on the up...( read more)take. When you keep having blackouts and suspect you`re killing people during that time, the first and best thing to do is STOP DRINKING, YOU DRUNKARD.

Throughout the movie, you don`t really get to know anyone and you don`t start to like anyone so it held attention only because I thought Samuel L Jackson and Andy Garcia wouldn`t appreciate being stopped unfinished and because I wanted to make sure the twist wasn`t that the movie was engineered to be so bad that the killer really was her when she was having blackouts.

PS. Still better than Three Blind Mice.

  • April 25, 2009
Ashley Judd plays an annoying character and the ending is not really that great. Not a very gripping film.
Conclusion: Don't drink too much, if you see the film you will get it.
  • March 10, 2009
Outstanding movie and twisted as well
  • March 7, 2009
Ashley Judd got way too stuck in the thriller genre with this movie.
  • March 3, 2009
    Not awful, just awfully stupid.
  • March 1, 2009
Recommend. A good psychological thriller/crime drama. It's a perfect choice for a rainy or winter afternoon, curled up in a blanket, all the while snacking on some fresh popcorn. If your an Ashley Judd, Andy Garcia, or Samuel L. Jackson fan, it's a must have or watch. Although, i...( read more)t's not any of their best work, it's certainly not their worst.

I've tried to avoid the Ashley judd/Samuel L Jackson movies but when it's the only thing on the airplane...I was pleasantly surprised, even watched it twice!
  • February 4, 2009
    interested movie
    more things not expectant
  • January 31, 2009
Poor performances, even though it has a great cast. Their talents were totally wasted in one of the most predictable plots ever written. Just a huge waste of time.
  • January 30, 2009
not bad prob a one time deal cuz you once you know the killer the suspense is over
  • January 3, 2009

This detective thriller stars Ashley Judd, Samuel Jackson and Andy Garcia as they track down a serial killer.
  • November 28, 2008
Twisted is your typical thriller that has a obligatory, game-changing twist at the end. Ashley Judd is as gorgeous as always, while Garcia and Jackson phone-in performances that really don't require a lot of effort from them.

There's nothing new here, and the "why" of the murde...( read more)rs wasn't really explained to my satisfaction, but whatever. You know if you like these kinds of movies or not, and if you you do, then Twisted is worth watching on TV (or picking up at the store for $5, like I did).

Not bad but bot the best crime story ever either.. good random watch though
  • September 24, 2008
a good movie but for sure twisted
  • September 21, 2008
    I like MURDER movies
  • September 11, 2008
Somehow you know how the killer is.

I enjoyed the first film more, but this one was appropriate given how long ago the series and previous film was. Mulder and Scully are both out of the FBI and living separate lives when this certain mystery brings them all together. The film isn't too Sci-Fi based and the end is ...( read more)something that is not all that far in fiction. The acting was good and the movie was kind of slow but overall a good watch. It would be hard for people to get into who haven't seen the series or know the key characters. However for those fans this film is a solid entry into the X-Files saga and a welcome trip back to a show and time in television and science fiction that is truly great.

Just awful. I can't believe Philip Kaufman - who made Unbearable Lightness of Being and The Right Stuff - directed this.:(
  • July 10, 2008
it's quite predictable....i have seen better films of that kind..
    such as "The Usual Suspects"
  • July 8, 2008
Andy Garcia and Samuel L. Jackson were good in this, didn't really like Ashley Judd.
  • June 3, 2008
Another predictable movie. Hate all these "white girl cop with a black cop mentor" movies.
  • May 8, 2008
I think I saw this, but all her movies tend to run together.
  • May 1, 2008
I would hardly call this 'twisted'. What they're trying to tell you is that the ending has a twist, but it's twisted in a way that nothing makes sense in the ending. It was easy enough to guess who was behind the murders, and I hate it in films like this when they need a twist so...( read more) they pull out a random person to be responsible. No clues, no nothing to explain why.

The plot is convincing though, if only it was made better by the acting and 'twist'. It follows a female police officer who is investigating a series of murders, and soon finds out that she has slept with all of the victims. The plot tries to draw you in with the possibility that she might be the killer she is looking for, she seems to be going a bit crazy dealing with her father's death.

It wasn't just the ending that is this movie's downfall. The acting could have been a lot better, it seemed as if they just didn't care. Ashley Judd was okay, nothing more. Samuel L. Jackson was the easiest to tell that he gave this movie nothing special, and then Andy Garcia was really the only decent performance, I kind of liked his character.

It's not something I would recommend for anyone to see, but hey, maybe you might enjoy it more than I did.

The first hour was very good. Nut the ending was so dissaapointing I had to rate it 3/5 istead of 4/5.
  • March 10, 2008
    enjoyable cop action flick.
  • March 5, 2008
good movie and the title is all about the ending
  • February 26, 2008
I LOVE Ashley Judd but this wasn't one of her best.
  • February 26, 2008
    Boy was this movie twisted!
  • February 17, 2008
An okay movie. The most stupid name ever. Had a very predictable and un-original plot.
