I love Kate Beckinsale ..I think she is awesome in this movie..I thought underworld and all the other under worlds were great...

But overall, this movie is a huge mess, the script is not well-written.
Lack of character development, and the CGI for werewolf is very poor.

The story premise is a solid one and the first Underworld movie paints a decent picture of the war between the Lycans and Vampires. Kate Beckinsale in leather killing monsters and looking all fine will make this enjoyable for the average dude, just don't expect an Oscar winner.
Amazing action-horror, with modern gothic setting. Recommended for those who loves any 'Blade' movie.
I love any movie where a chick kicks ass. This is one of the examples. Kate Beckinsale looks stunning as a vampire Selena, and she is seriously kicking ass.

great fight scenes against the evil forces (which for me is both the vampires and lycans haha)...anyways, kate made justice for a vampire who happened to have a heart...there's romance involved and it made the movie cute so to speak
