Critic Reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

"As Shearing and company poke fun at our national anxiety over sexual dysfunction, they also send up our perverse eagerness (exemplified by courtroom television and show-all documentaries) to let it all hang out for public consumption."
‑ Jan Stuart, Newsday
"A likable, wrinkly taint of a movie."
‑ Edward Crouse, Village Voice
"An erotic pic that punches into the national uptightness about sexual dysfunction."
‑ Harvey S. Karten, Compuserve
"Offers enough laughs to please even those who don't usually venture into downtown art houses."
‑ Russell Scott Smith, New York Post
"Shearing tickles the right spots by applying just what is needed for maximum effect."
‑ Doris Toumarkine, Film Journal International
"A funny film that pokes fun at the specialists in mind, body and soul who peddle wisdom about sex in today's excessive self-improvement marketplace."
‑ Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat, Spirituality and Practice
"Bold on the surface, squeamish underneath and utterly lacking in erotic warmth, Unscrewed could well perpetuate the very dysfunction it purports to address so fearlessly."
‑ Stephen Holden, New York Times
"A dark and discomfiting comedy of sexual insecurity, this scruffy mockumentary about a couple's odyssey through sex therapy marks the feature-film debut of documentary-trained writer and director Leslie Shearing."
‑ Maitland McDonagh, TV Guide's Movie Guide
