A bizarre and exciting adventure from Pixar with an emotional backdrop surrounding a widow and a child of divorce, dang Pixar you're always skyin' for those Academy Awards. Real creative movie as expected but I don't know why Pixar has been in the habit of doing movies with mini...( read more)mal characters much like WALL-E. I prefer Toy Story but nevertheless this is an amazing film.

I love KEVIN! much like wall-e, everyone knows that this will deffinetly win for best animated pic. @ this yrs. oscars. I truthfully didnt liket this one as much as Wall-e tho. I Think it was all the talking! as wierd as that sounds. its true there was almost to much talking. Thi...( read more)s was also as well put together and thought of as Wall=e was.
Still, this is a beautiful movie worth watching.

Having explored the waning of youth, fitting in, the importance of family, the nature of art, and humanity's place in the universe, Pixar turns to everyday adventure and lifelong dreams for its deepest fable yet. The animation and score provide a rich lens to a deceptively dense ...( read more)story that could only be told so efficiently by the visual poets at Pixar. The characters' motivations are complex and sincere, and though the slapstick gags detract a little from the otherwise mature approach to the story, the film strikes an entertaining balance of wittiness and wistfulness. One almost wishes Pixar would just make a completely adult film already, except that much of the charm of the films comes from their purity. The childlike innocence and naivete make the obligatory lessons seem genuine.

Sweet and sad story of an old man who have always dreamed of being an explorer ever since he was a little kid. As he grew older and grumpy, he decides to fly away with his home. He accidently takes a little boy along with him and together they go on an adventure. On the way there...( read more) they meet up with a a colorful bird and a group of dogs. It was a pretty fun movie to watch for the old and young.

Up begins with 5 star movie material. It's hearfelt, warm, and fuzzy. After the balloons go up and Ed Asner takes to the sky it becomes the usual pixar droll. I'll say it now, I hate pixar. Their ratio of good films to bad films is apalling. It' a wonder their still in bus...( read more)iness. I guess it must be that Disney magic at the box office. While Up has its charms it can't escape the ever increasing black hole of CGI cookie cutter crap that swarms through theaters today. I don't get the whole conflict either. If Carl was such a big fan of Christopher Plummer's character, doesn't he owe it to him to get that damn bird back? Shit, I woulda helped him. That always bugged me, unrealistic character motivation, and it's rampant in all of pixar's films after Toy Story 2. The bottom line is that Up will entertain and please the crowds, but it isn't some masterpiece by any standard.

I have to admit that Pixar did it again. As funny, touching, and thrilling as the other Pixar films. I wouldn't be surprised if this got a nomination for Best Picture.
