Ursus in the Valley of the Lions
In this fantasy, the hero's fiancee is kidnapped by pagan priests and he must rescue her. Unfortunately, she has been bewitched so that when he finally arrives, she is not herself and attempts to kill him by tossing him into an arena with a giant bull. The hero soon makes pot-roast out of the bellowing bovine, but this precipitates a peasant uprising. In the ensuing conflict his lover is killed. The hero then takes up with a new love, a girl whose sight has been magically restored.
