Very well done! The story and the themes have been moved cleverly on the screen, and the actors are too good! The main character, V, is hypnotising and lethal; also, a real hero, become immortal for identyfing himself in his idea of complete freedom: ideas are bulletproof.

Nah, I didn't like the movie. I mean, I think it had its moments. Other than that, i think the movie is too up itself. There too many people saying "bollocks" all the time, which made me cringe. I couldn't stand Natalie Portman for some reason. The movie thinks its clever, but its not.

im not really into this. I mean Natalie Portman is a good actress but otherwise it seems like too much of a boring movie for me. You have to really understand whats happening in this movie. I dont recommend you see it if your a kid or a young teenager your not going to understand it.

The movie made a comic that showed how both totalitarianism and anarchy did not work, and were wrong into a simple rant against Bush. Disregarding the fact that the Wafreakskis directed it, it's still fucked up, and when you add them into the equation things get very angering, very fast.

Good movie.. showed the dark side of having govt who has lots of power... what they can do / hide... and nobody question or seek the truth...so this "V" man wants to open the eyes of those people..

A bastardization of the original comics. Also, slow motion knife fights? The Wafreakski transvestites need to die.

the way this movie was put together amazes me, it was fantastic, the political aspect makes totall sense and it really blows me away to see the action and the acting performances in this movie, hugo weaving and and natalie portman were splendid, this movie deserves more recognition towards all the special affects and the characterization. the filing of this movie and the way it was put together was amazing, like i said before the performances of the actors blows me away

Hugo Weaving wows the audience with an outstanding performance as the title character in this intelligent, politically-charged action film based on the graphic novel by Alan Moore and David Lloyd.

One of the greatest movies of all time.... Slick, intense, meaningful, deep, dark and every other element that makes a movie a milestone

good movie. more of a thinker than the trailer showed. interesting to have a terrorist as the main "good" character. a good depiction of the classic question of do the ends justify the means?

V for Vendetta was published in the 1988, and was a critical observation about thatcherisim. True, the wachoskis adapted it to more fit criticisimto current political times (one of Alan Moores biggest criticisims of this movie), but the underlying theme remains

Seems alot of movies dealing with politics have subtle hints to the Bush administration, they have become the new villains in movies not unlike the nazis,I'm not saying that is a bad thing I'm just pointing a fact out.

Classic philisophical struggle of good vs. evil with the question of do the ends justify means. Excellent action drama, character development and story line. A good movie for political wonks and action/love story to boot!

Well i liked this, to a point. The two whole action scenes were good, and so they should be seeing as how this was directed by the wachowski brothers. It had a really good, relevant message to get across but it was difficult to stay interested for the whole time. It would have been a whole lot better if it held your interest throughout because chances are you will fast forward a little bit. Nevertheless, still good overall.

This is my all time favourite movie. I think everything about it was incredible and there the person that posted the comment saying that it had gaps in its plot is totally not right. They were trying to do what they were doing for power as you said and yes maybe they had a good side, but the point of the movie was that that is how the government will act in the future. It's not trying to be a movie that shows all sides to a person or something, it was making so that it was a lot more noticable about how evil the government really was. Well anyways i just wanted to say I loved it and can't wait til it comes out on DVD tomorrow!

By far the best movie I've seen in 2006. The only movie that comes close is Inside Man.

Great fucking movie....V is simply letting the government know that we as a people need freedom to move about and that when you restrict us from being human then sooner or later society will crumble and the government will fall leaving the people to fend and make their own decisions......"Remember...Remember..the 5th of November"

ok Gaijindesu "V" is on a personal vendetta hense the title of the movie. But V IS everyone in the movie in the sense that society are thinking and going through the same situation which he did. he merely gets thenm to fight along with him together as one. I get were u coming from like the typicaly hero movies but this is more than that. We never see V's face he is kept elusive thus giving us a syboloic meaning that true justice has no face. Its me and its you.

The trailers didn't do it justice because my friend had to drag me to it.
But once I saw it, I loved it! The near-future, political story line was more than interesting & the characters were highly memorable.
Action packed & heart-felt, its definitely a favorite of mine!

At first, like many others, I thought the movie was a complete masterpiece, but on giving it second thought I have found it much less original and philosophical than at first. Many of the villains and ideas that our protagonists fight against have been seen many times before, and are in fact unoriginal. As much as the idea that "V is everbody" comes across in the film he is in fact not. He is on a personal Vendetta against the government for what it has done to him. It's almost as if he's trying to replace a regime with another regime and with so much backstory left unexplained the film feels empty. We don't see why the villains are doing what they're doing, other than for power (and possibly intolerance) and they come across as completely evil. No one is completely evil, they all have their own good qualities and views. Hitler was a vegetarian, something that showed he had some compassion for other creatures. Stuttler is clearly an attempt at imitating the Fuhrer.

The symbolism of this movie is frustrating, and while the film may be thought provoking it's certainly not 5 star material. With gaping plot-holes in the plot and action scenes that seem added in at the last moment, the movie feels frustratingly under-realized.

It saddens me that the Flixster community is unable to distinguish the movie's shortcomings between its hype and its attempted philosophical ideas.
