A complete train-wreck that had just enough ridiculously brutal and melodramatic scenes (not to mention clumsy and accidental sexism and racism) to get me through to the end, asking "how much worse can this get?" the whole time. Valley Girl is a laugh riot, though I can't imagine that being its intention. It's a curious artifact and one that sadly I can foresee being remade one day (as all the truly terrible movies are), and while the performances by Cage, Forrest and Elizabeth Daily are decent, they aren't even close to enough to save this one. Tons of fun, though - if you can stop laughing long enough to hear the next terrible line! The soundtrack makes it watchable, but still, it's one for nostalgia buffs only.
I taped this a long time ago and would like to see it, again~I even ordered the Pat Travers album 'Black Pearl' because of the song 'I La La La Love You'
Pretty much the only Nick Cage movie I like. With terms like GRODY, FOR SURE, and TOTALLY. . .this movie speaks my language. Oh, how I miss the Valley. . and the 80s for that matter.
Not a bad flick, is actually alot more funny unintentionally now with the costumes and such AND seeing Nic Cage's grill before he got his teeth fixed is hilarious!
Martha Coolidge's fantasy comedy about the totally most rad people ever, like Valley Girls, was like the most tubularly cool and awesome movie ever! Okay, so it was a little heavy on the valley scene, but like Fast Times the year before, it inspired a generation to get up and notice they were the in thing. Ya know! For sure! Sure it has a shallow substance, but it's so nostalgic now.
really good actually. nicholas cage is really sweet in this. its funny and a nice 80's chick flick. nice cast and a cliche story but i like it. great songs in it aswell, one to watch, its sweet.
Like for sure!!! Ultimate movie about how the "In" popular rich girl falls for the other side of the track misunderstood guy. She saw his heart and honest motives instead of his clothes and car and pocketbook.Wow were her preppy friends grossed out, or did they envey her courage? You decide but like oh My God dont miss this one for sure!!
In the tradition of "Romeo and Juliet," a punker named Randy (Nicholas Cage) begins a relationship with shallow teenage girl named Julie (Deborah Foreman), but peer pressure from her equally shallow friends forces her to break up and go back to her ex-boyfriend (Michael Bowen). Randy refuses to take this lying down and tries to get Julie back. In conclusion, this is a wonderful, timeless movie. Though the time in which it is set plays a major role in the movie, the essential love story is timeless.
A classic 80's high school flick. Punk meets prom and two worlds collide. Can these two overcome all odds to be together??? A story about finding happiness and fitting in. Good music, hair and dialogue. Like, totally gag me with a spoon.
Classic 80's love story with totally rad dialogue. A young Nic Cage is trippendicular. Watch the movie and you'll know why my comment is like this. One of my top 5's!
Nicolas Cage was actually pretty good in this movie! I don't usually like him. My friend Sara always says that he has PERFECT hair and I always thought that she was just weird but.. I can't believe I'm saying this, I liked his hair in this one.
I am sure this is absolutely horrible. But the night I took it out I left the other movies for another time and watched it over and over till morning. Cage is Yum. That girl is way not feasible.
This is such a guilty pleasure! This movie is so 80's, it's great. The acting isn't all that bad, the music is good, and the dialogue sticks in your head.
i will always love this movie; even more than most cuz i was like so there, fur shur. this movie was filmed in an area where i grew-up during the same time that i was there. basically, it was my life.
This is probably the dumbest movie I like. Don't tell anyone. Hahahaha I just like it. Maybe it was because they played "I Melt With You" by Modern English. :-) That added a lot of class to the movie.
