In this western, American gunslingers Benjamin Trane (Gary Cooper) and Joe Erin (Burt Lancaster) travel to Mexico during the 1866 revolution. Looking for work, they'll fight for whoever offers them the largest sum of money. However, when love gets in the way of their alliances, Benjamin and Joe find themselves fighting each other as members of opposing sides.
