This a great movie for any football fan. A great set of stars from the 70's, Pele and Stallone as a funny goalkeeper. This is one of my favorite soccer movies. The storyline is not the best, but it is catchy. Now the way the stadium was set up, the noise, it feel really real. I would love to see a similar movie remade. Maybe a victory 2 with todays's stars. Some people do not like the idea of sly as a football player, I disagree, I think he playing the "football-ignorant"american is good. Now I also think that the way the soccer players acted was very realistic. In special Pele was good.

Took me 25 years to watch this... Truth is, it didn't desappoint me. Not at all. Probably 'cause I'm a football fan, but I thought the film was overall very entertaining and pleasant to watch. It mixes football very well with historical facts, reminding us of the role it can - and should - play in society, especially at the time portrayed. Besides, to see Pelé playing... the quality of the film itself kind of loses relevance.

A funny film, but for all the wrong reasons! Watch Pele's dodgy acting, and midget Sly Stallone as the Yankee goalkeeper! Nice Sunday arvo watching...

Nostalgic soccer fans take note... the film is seriously pretty terrible and the soccer scenes aren't good, but somehow this film remains a bit of a classic.

It's about football (the proper kind with a round ball) and it's got Caine in... the arm breaking scene made me a little squeamish mind..

A real oddity in which WWII prisoners of war attempt to hatch an escape plan during an exhibition football match. All the usual feelgood rooting for the underdog cliches, but it's fairly watchable because of the presence of some genuine stars. Helps if you like football, of course...

    And still the beast lives.

A Classic, a film i can always watch and never get tired off, just wish there was a little bit more Bobby Moore in it. But that doesn't stop this from getting 5 stars.

Rates pretty high in the silliness stakes. It's a mystery to me how Pele comes to be in POW camp. Michael Caine and the cameos by famous footballers are the only things that light this up.

a good but shit film - ridiculous plot, stand out moments are Pele's chalkboard gameplan, 'ang on lads....WE CAN WIN THIS!', and sly's comedy celebrations after saving the crucial penalty....bloomin awful film - but I cant help loving it!

The Best Football Movie...Ever. As footballers nowadays would bitch about who looked better, or who was paid more, back when football was a contact sport, Legends (on and off the field) got together to make this movie about hope, desire and commitment and Commardery. Something for todays footballers to think about.

Women, watch this Movie, you will understand why we love the beautiful game so much.

Back in the days when ALL films were about war. Storylines were thin on the ground. Hey, if Elvis was allowed to act...why not let a bunch of footballers do a war movie about ......'football'?
It's an underdog movie with that feel good factor thrown in for good measure.
    Worth a watch.
