funy entertaining and with very nice songs (time after time / la vie ene rose ) BUt found the movie more moving than comedy in most of the half of the movie
Christina Applegate was pretty good in this I thought. I liked Gwyneth. Mike Myers little role was pretty funny I thought. I had very very low expectations of this, so for me it was good.
Bruno Barreto's lazy directing destroys each good thing of this silly comedy. "View From the Top" is the type of movie that you watch during incredibly boring afternoons and you... sleep watching it! The actors seem really lost in this mess, and they're probably thinking: "Where the hell is the director?". Okay, he was probably cashing his check 'cause Barreto did nothing to correct the poor acting, the sugar-bloated screenplay, the made from TV photography and the other million negative points. Two stars just because of Gwyneth Paltrow and Mike Myers, both struggling to do a great job. The other actors were probably cashing their checks with Barreto.
Eu tenho vergonha do Bruno Barreto ser brasileiro. Super fico sem graça só de pensar na possibilidade da Gwyneth Paltrow lembrar dele toda vez que falam de Brasil com ela.
Not that Im segregating movies according to gender but this is just totally a chick flick. Anyway I like this one cause its got a nice influential message and its a feel good movie but its not exactly a comedy.
If you like kitsch films then you'll like this. Entertaining, but Mark Ruffalo is the only one of the cast who can act, so don't expect it to turn up in anyone's top 100 films.
Cute if you like silly movies about simple dreams, love and true friendship but wasn`t my thing. Quite "feel-good" with injustices righted and a happy end for all the deserving. Avoid at all costs if you dislike chick flicks and slapstick (and maybe even tacky - lol his eyes) comedy. Note how the girls' hair, makeup and clothing get better and better as they get jobs and rise in the ranks and fall in love.
Take two fine ladies and witty tale then sit back and spend a couple of hours enjoying this. Bit of a chick flic so if you've got one make sure she's with you. Just don't ogle the honeys too much or you'll get in trouble.
What can I have possibly done to be forced to sit through quite possibly one of the worst films I've ever seen? Better yet, what could have inspired someone to make a film like this about a genuinely boring storyline? All the acting is completely mediocre, not helped by an awful script that tries too hard to be funny (putting a permanent black mark on both Mike Myers and Mark Ruffalo's careers), and every scene is littered with unbelievable cheesiness and awful cliches. Hideous.
Gwyneth Paltrow deserves better roles than this one that she played at this average quality romantic comedy. Still, she manage to make a performance good enough to avoid the movie from being worse that it actually could hsve been.
Why would an Academy Award A-List actress do a film like this?! I can only imagine she was promised great catering. Not a bad film, but it's like finding out Janine Garafolo is starring in the next Merchant/Ivory film; I don't doubt her talents, but it just leaves me with a dumbfounded feeling.
Wow I can't believe in high school I wanted to be a flight attendent. The movie was cute but Gwyneth Paltrow and Mark Ruffalo can do so much better. Mike Myers was funny. I would watch it if it just comes on and you have nothing better to do.
Watched this on TV today and really liked it! It was silly, funny, and romantic! All the right ingredients for me! Mike Myers was so FUNNY!! I need to watch it again, but I think it's a keeper!
It was a pretty predictable movie but the role of Mike Myers was awesome! Some truly funny moments that you can't help but laugh at. It's a good rental.
ECKKK!!!! Nasty. Bad story. Bad characters and bad acting. The only good thing about this is Mike Myers turn as the flight instructor with a turn in his eye. Far too sickly sweet for me, and where was the comedy part to this apparent comedy. Even Lindsay Lohan films have more depth and darkness when compared to this.
Gwyneth Paltrow is far too dizty blonde bimbo to even be taken the slightest bit seriously. Kelly Preston is quite enjoyable for the 10 mins she's actually in the film. But Christian Applegate as the dumb, slutty bitch isn't fun to watch, more in the painful catagory. Mark Ruffulo as the male lead can only be described as "nahh whatever". He's just there not noticably great not noticably bad.
