I forget about this movie allthe time. Its Denzel and Crowe's first movie together. Crowe is a great bad guy.

Good Film, great to see Denzel Washington & Russell Crowe in a film together, though some of it was confusing and early effects really made it silly.

Wow! To watch this movie now is awesome. I can remember watching this in a movie drive-in. This is the last movie I watched there before they closed the last one near me down. It was a very sad day.

Very lame sci-fi concept for a film that seems to reuse CGI rejects from 'The Lawnmower Man.' Russell Crowe acting is particularly bad in this film, just forcing his voice a lot and grinning. To make it worse, he plays the good-looking virtual serial killer (uh?) that has grey goo as blood (again, uh?). Pathetic brain-dead idea, even for Hollywood standards.

Denzel Washington is one of the best Afro American actor & Russell Crowe is one of our - Aussie actors, they both give their all to their movies.

Very obviously made in the mid 90s building on the increase in technology. The first time i saw this was years ago on late at night, i watched it agin recently and still loved it. Russell Crowe who wasnt that well known to me back then really suits the character and you can see alot of his more recent performances in it. A cheesy story which i think works well and Dezel does a good job but it sencond best to Crowe.

A pretty interesting action/sci-fi sorta movie. I thought it was a little over the top but unique enough to check out. Plus, it's Russell Crowe before he became a superstar.

I didn't catch the first few minutes of this movie, but the truth is that I'm really glad I didn't. And I don't have to be a wiz to know that I didn't miss much. Judging by the rest of the film, I've come to the conclusion that I missed nothing but a couple of crappy scenes. And consequently, have also spared a lot of bad language that would have come out just like it did throughout the time I was watching it. So, the less crap I have to put up from bad movies, the merrier. Even if it means I'm only avoiding crap for a few minutes.
Now... The plot and the screenplay are just awful. The story line isn't a bit interesting and is displayed in the worst way possible. Just some virtual character that manages to escape the cyberspace into the real world, and is thus pursued by a cop who attempts to put him back where he belongs.
And this is pretty much all you'll see the entire time.
    No, wait...
You also get the chance to see a terrible performance from Crowe.
    But that's about it.

Another movie that I think got a pretty shitty rep (and also another movie "The Matrix" stole some ideas from). "Virtuosity" is not all that bad, it's a solid sci-fi action in the lines of "Demolition Man" but not as cheesy. Denzel Washington does a good job as the cop and Russell Crowe, who I'm hardly a fan of does a good job as the over-the-top evil android Sid 6.7. If you want some basic sci-fi action, it's worth seeing, but nothing fantastic.

Oh man, the kind of cheesy bad-but-ocasionally-fun flicks that hollywood wouldn't dare to do these days. Crowe was actually fun to watch, instead of annoying as he usually is. The concept is actually not that bad, is just very poorly made.

This also reminds me of that sci/fi movie with Mick Jagger and Emilio Stevez. Another cinematic disaster that you just can't believe hollywood dared to make.

Before Denzel and Crowe were in 'American Gangster' together they squared off in this sci-fi guilty pleasure reminiscent of 'Demolition Man'. A very young looking Crowe has a blast playing the bad guy and Denzel plays.. well... Denzel. A kick ass sountrack and an awesome finale more than make up for some hokey dialogue and paper thin plot. Guilty fun but lets face it, both actors are better than this.

Oh, the things you find in a Wal-Mart bargain bin for only $5! Before "American Gangster", Denzel Washingston and Russell Crowe starred in this 1995 sci-fi thriller, that's a minor black-eye in their polished resumes. At the time, Zelly was far established as a leading man, while Crowe was still up and coming. The two have since moved on to far greater heights in their careers, but for what it's worth, "Virtuosity" is a bad movie that leans more towards fun, than abysmal. What works is chemistry the two deliver in playing out this taunt, psychological cat-and-mouse game, that started in virtual reality (remember that?) and is taken into reality. The confines of VR are stripped away, making for an absolutely deadly playing field. Crowe's Sid 6.7 is a sadistic loose cannon, who gets a rush out of killing people and craving attention. A construct of mulitple personalities of serial killers, he uses one of them--the man who killed his opponent's wife and child--to toy with Zelly's Parker Barnes, a tormented ex-cop tuned prisoner, who became the closest to outsmarting Sid in VR. To make matters worse for Barnes, Sid has the ability to regenerarte himself, upping the ante for his killing spree; the more he kills, the more accoutablity is left with Barnes. Aside from the chemistry, however, the movie's almost cheesy to the point where you might question why Zelly and Crowe chose to work with this. Considering the respectable body of work both actors have done before and after the Oscar wins, imagine this being the "direct-to-video" feature they'd have, if both of their careers went the way of Steven Seagal--this is SO beneath them. But if you're willing to check your brain at the door and ignore the fact these are two Oscars winners in a B-movie, Virtuosity is still worth a look. And it was worth the $5 DVD. (Last year's M:I:3 was in the bargain bin, too, but only the single-disc version. I wonder what that says about Tom Cruise?)

Crowe is very fun to watch in this movie. If I ever see it again, I'll probably drop a star off it.

Despite how cheesy this was at times, I kinda liked this movie if only for the potential concept that drove it and a very young Russel Crowe.

Every actor has their down fall.
In this movies case, it hit two birds with one stone.
(I apologize for the cliche' - I just thought it fit)

One of Crowe's superb performances. I didn't quite catch the acting of Washington however; it came as quite a surprise that i wasn't blown by his acting as i always was. For me, it was Crowe who stole the show, and gave us a glimpse of his ever-flawless talent, which he showcases in two other great films, A Beautiful Mind and Gladiator.

I'd meant to see this for so long. Denzel, and an as of yet unknown Russell Crowe face off. He's a computer program based on the profiles of the most dangerous serial killers in criminal history and, wonder of wonde,r he escapes the machine to wreak havoc. Sounds cool? Wrong. Crowe plays like a pissed off Max Headroom and the movie never delivers on its promising premise. Coulda been a good Blade Runner type sci-fi thriller, instead it's just a little better than the absurd Lawnmower Man movies.
