Brad Dexter, Edward Mulhare, Frank Sinatra

Forget Indiana Jones. This 1965 high adventure stars Frank Sinatra as the leader of a mass escape from a World War II POW camp in Italy. That mission accomplished, Old Blue Eyes has sundry adventures ...( read more  read more... )camouflaging the freed men as German soldiers, trying to fool the Gestapo, and finally doing battle with enemy planes and ground troops while trying to get a hijacked train through a blocked tunnel. Sinatra is in great form and director Mark Robson handles the endless chain of action set-pieces with panache. A great pulse-quickener. --Tom Keogh

set in italy during ww2 and starring trevor howard and frank sinatra, support from raffaella carra (eyepatch right? he was good) this bold and uncompromising film sees a group of P.O.W.'s on an epic journey of escape. sinatra who plays von ryan makes some poor decisions as a comm...( read more)anding officer and isn't too popular to begin with and he plays the part convincingly. mind, even if he didn't there's something going on to keep your attention on screen so you wouldn't notice anyway. trevor howard is the bomb biggy too

    One Badass Train picture.

Frank Sinatra stars in this highly underrated action adventure film.

Solid WWII escape drama that concentrates on spectacle rather than suspense more than most. A decent war cum action film on the whole.

Great tale of escape - underrated and not given enuff credit - Sinatra acts as good as he sings.

This is one of those movies that should have been right up there with The Great Escape. Well-paced, decently acted, and a far more interesting escape than other WWII POW films.

Great flick...who knew Sinatra could act? (I know, some didn't think he did well here, but I liked it!)

Sounds like "Hogans Heroes". Which is okay. I've only seen that b/c my mom watches it.

Love this one. One of my favorite WWII movies. It's exciting and suspenseful. Sets and scenery are great. Well detailed, authentic looking uniforms. Great fun to watch.
