walk the line was very good of a movie it is just that there were too many drugs and drinking was everywhere in the movie but the singing was good though.
I really didn't think that I would like this however I enjoyed it. The cast and performances were great and well suited. The story was interesting and grabbing from the start.

My review:
In Walk The Line, Academy Award nominee Joaquin Phoenix powerfully portrays Johnny Cash, a passionate artist who rebelled against convection, revolutionized music and always walked his own path, regardless of the consequences. His troubled past, together with his outlaw persona, unbridled talent and passion for the woman he was destined to be with, led him a path of self-destruction. Reese Witherspoon gives an Academy Award winning performance as June Carter, the greatest love of his life. This film was really emotional and was very touching with all the characters involved. I had never heard about Johnny Cashs life until I saw this film for the first time. It is obviously a really depressing and troubled life but he got there in the end which was great. Despite of how depressing the film is, it is also a very beautiful film too about love and friendship too. Joaquin Phoenix gives an extremely powerful and passionate performance as legendary singer Johnny Cash. Joaquin makes Johnny Cash not only a real person but also an absolutely awesome film character. It is like Joaquin makes Johnny Cash his own character but not his own person because Cash was obviously a real person. i personally think that if there is ever an Elvis Presley film about his life, I think that Joaquin would have been the perfect choice because he has that cool style and deep singing style too. It was definitely Phoenixs most powerful performance. His performance in Gladiator is still damn good though. Reese Witherspoon delivers an absolutely awesome performance aswell as June Carter. I personally think that Reese looked a lot like the real June Carter. Reese naturally has blonde hair but she looks really great with brown hair. I think she dyed it brown instead of wearing a wig. This was the first film that I saw with Reese Witherspoon in it and it started off as probably her best film too. The direction was good but not that good and I thought the breathtaking and heartbreaking script was really good too. As far as genre is concerned it isnt a musical but only a film that features music. Similar types of films are Ray, The Pianist and more. It is a film that is a true story but is about a musician/singer. The chemistry between Johnny Cash and June Carter was extremely powerful in the film and probably was in real life too. I could easily see the heartbreak and the twists and turns that occur with Johnny and the drugs. The twists were when Johnny first met June and also when Johnny gets involved with the drugs. Everything in this film was totally true including his relationship with his first wife and of how he lost her and his four daughters and the incident with his older brother. This film wasnt violent at all but had one little strong use of strong language and there was a lot of drug use too which made it a 12A/PG-13 certificate. This film had awesome sound, costumes and an excellent script too. This film was a winner of only one Academy Award. It won Best Leading Actress (Reese Witherspoon). It was nominated for Best Leading Actor (Joaquin Phoenix but lost to Phillip Seymour Hoffman in Capote), Best Editing, Best Costume Design and Best Sound Mixing. It won all three Golden Globes that it won. It won Best Picture (Musical/Comedy) even though Walk The Line is neither of them. It won Best Leading Actor (Musical/Comedy) and Best Leading Actress (Musical/Comedy) for Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon. As I said, it is Phoenixs most powerful performance and probably Witherspoons most powerful one too even though this film is the first I have watched from Reese Witherspoon in it. This film can help people with coping and recovering from drug addiction and also about coping with a childhood tragedy. This film was as good as I had hoped it would be. The only thing that I thought delayed it for me was that I thought that some of the scenes were a bit long and went a bit boring and was like blah-blah-blah for like 10 minutes in some scenes. Despite that, it is one of the best films of 2005 and one of the greatest biography stories of all time too about one of the greatest singers/musicians of all time. I would have rated this 3.5 but because of the extremely powerful chemistry between John and June I have to rate it up higher. It is now 4 star.
While I don't know how much of this movie is actually true, this such an emotional, realistic look at Johnny Cash's life (superbly acted out) that I don't care either.
First of all, I heard time and time and time and time again how amazingly awesome and good this movie is, so I decided I had to see it. Second of all, I can't stand Reese Witherspoon.
What makes all of this funny to me is that I hated the movie and liked Reese Witherspoon the most!
Yeah, yeah, you can say it's good, but being depressing and boring doesn't count as good to me. It went on and on for what felt like forever. He was an abusive, mean, stupid little prick who happened to acquire fame. I hate people like that.
Reese Witherspoon really is amazing as June Carter, even going so far as to have the tiny little nasal voice that was so common to people back then. She floored me! Wow!
Not something I'll ever see again... And why didn't they cast Ginnifer Goodwin as Rachel Dawes instead in The Dark Knight? *sigh*
OMG!! I Love this movie it is so good!! expecally if you like Johnny Cash!!! Before i watched this movie i didn't really like the man. Now i like him yes he had a few bumps in the road (drugs, alcohal, and ect..) but over all he was such a good man!! And him and June make such a good pair together!! And in that movie Reece and Joaquin P. did so good playin in that movie cause they both had to really live up to their (Johnny and Junes) lives and they did with the look, the acting, and overall that bosted their careers They did so good and that movie is one of the best biographies i've ever seen!!!!
excellent biographical film of legened Johnny Cash. Phoenix who potrays cash and Reese as June Carter. Also impressive singing by Phoenix and talent that got him an oscar. best of 2005.
A wonderfully done biopic that I'm sure would have done Johnny proud. Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon, and especially Ginnifer Goodwin are all great.
Good, but did Reese Witherspoon really deserve that Oscar? I couldn't help noticing, but all the Texan accents and mannerisms she flaunted in the first half of the film seemed to dissolve as the movie progressed.
Joaquin Phoenix is the bomb. Johnny Cash would've been so happy.
this is not really good movie about biography singer of johnny cash(joaquin phoenix)who addict to pill and affair with another woman june carter(reese witherspoon).
wow... what a great movie. i have watched this movie a number of times and keeps getting better & better each time i watch it. Everything, from the cast to the script, was incredible. Joaquin Phoenix was amazing as the late, great Johnny Cash. And I can certainly see why Reese Witherspoon won the Oscar. She was superb in the movie. This one of the best Biopic film i've watched so far.
People compare this to Ray so I'm gonna start off by saying FUCK RAY! That mother fucker can't even sing his songs! Now, with that said; Joaquin and Reese do a very good job in their respective roles and their singing is great. Joaquin's singing does sound a lot deeper than Cash's does but it's still good. Making a biopic like this is a very tough task to accomplish and I feel the filmmakers did a very good job at capturing Cash's life on screen. The love between Johnny Cash and June Carter was emotional but what about the love with their own families? We hardly see Johnny's and June's daughter(s). It's like they hardly exist. That's one thing I would have liked to see more of...more family ties. But it didn't bother me too much anyway. A.
