I don't know anything about wallstreet, so it was boring and a bit confusing

This isn't a great movie, but it's fairly enjoyable if you're in the right mindset. Michael Douglas is great as a conniving, corrupt man consumed by greed.

Oliver Stone's love letter to the American stock market may be a tad difficult to follow for anyone who doesn't understand the inner workings of the NASDAQ, but there's plenty to like in this dramatic tale of one young trader's rise to power, and the consequences that his actions...( read more) have upon his career. Charlie Sheen does some of his finest-ever work in his portrayal of the naive Buddy Fiox, with Michael Douglas turning in a spectacular performance as his mentor/nemesis, Gordon Gekko. This movie dares you to keep up with it, and will reward those viewers who are able to do so.

Michael Douglas' role of his career (debatable). Fun movie, although now very dated. I have heard a sequel may be in the works though.

"Greed, for lack of a better word, is good." Defining quote of this film and the 80's.
  • June 2, 2006
Not a bad movie at all. Michael Douglas is a sweet villain, although Charlie seen isn't the most believeable in some of the more dramatic scenes. Other than that, it didn't linger too much at the beginning and was interesting pretty quickly

A very entertaining film and a great time capsule from the 80s, complete with the brick size cellphones and yuppy narcicism.

Greed, for lack of a better term, is good . . . And speaking of Gordon Gekko (sorry, it's not spelled Gecko), if you've not seen Wall Street, you've missed a chance to experience one of the greatest villains in silver screen history. For you younger flixsters, if you've ...( read more)heard about the great "yuppie" dream of the '70s and '80s, you can consider this a kind of historical document which epitomizes those yuppie yearnings, not to mention the whole issue of "insider trading" on the way to the rise, "bubble," and decline of the whole dot-com wall street phenomenon. Want to know what makes companies like Enron succeed and then ultimately fail? This is the movie for you. Douglas deserved every ounce of that Oscar, and Terence Stamp deserves big points as Douglas' scheming business arch-rival from across the pond. And speaking of yuppies, another way to look at this is as a kind of American Psycho without the gore.

Michael Douglas is brilliant in his Oscar-winning role in this well-made Drama from Oliver Stone.
