Russian actor Boris Bullock took the name Kit Carson for a series of extremely low-budget westerns released by producer-director Robert J. Horner 1925-1926. The Carson westerns were considered near the bottom of the ladder, prestige-wise, and played only the most desperate rural theaters. In The Walloping Kid a former prize-fighter turned rancher (Carson) masquerades as a bandit in order to infiltrate a gang of outlaws.
