In the near future corporations rule the world rather than nation states and disputes are settled by a heavily armed "arbitrator" played by John Cusack. The combination of black comedy and extreme violence and the presence of the Cusacks and Dan Aykroyd will be familiar to anyone...( read more)

I just looove the Cusacks. I think I have yet to see a John movie I didn't like, there's something about him that's just irresistible. Joan is always funny, she cracks me up. This movie was funny and I'm glad Tomei never really disappeared because she's amazing too. Duff was tota...( read more)

This is our generation's Dr. Strangelove, and like Dr. Strangelove, it isn't as funny now as it could possibly be in a few decades due to the fact that it is too close to painful reality. A must see for all citizens of the world.

Satirical humour. This film makes use of slapstick gags yet at the same time tries to make an intelligent statement about the politics of war and big business. The "final boss" bit was hilarious even while the protagonist`s backstory was trite. If this movie wasn`t meant to be ta...( read more)

John and Joan are once again awesome, there isnt anything they do, that I dont love. Kingsley, Tomei and Aykroyd are also great, but I just wasnt buying Hilary as a hooch or that terrible accent.
although most wont get the humor in this one, I found it quite amusing. politica...( read more) -

a strange satire about the money and media in war... there are used some very good ideas and to my surprise h. duff is no miscast. j. cusack plays a similar role we love from 'grosse point blank', but when you come to the second half the plot becomes more and more disordered and ...( read more)

A brave and ambitious but chaotic attempt at political satire. full review

June 25, 2008I laughed so hard in the theater, I started crying. I could do without Hilary Duff (was she the only actress out of rehab when they filmed?) but the rest of the movie was funny and timely and sad and true. LOVED IT!

April 21, 2008I MUST WATCH IT. John Cusack basically plays a Martin Blank who never went to his high school reunion? I'm sold. The trailer hints at an unfortunate overuse of fish-bowl lenses, but I'll wait 'til I see the film before judging it.
