WarGames: The Dead Code is pretty much a remake of the orignal and also a direct to dvd sequel all in one it follows the story of a hacker that with his friend decided to play a online game but turns out the game is set up to find out who the terrorist are once he scores to high ...( read more)the government starts to track him and the computer believes there is a real threat now the hacker must help to shut down the program with the help of JOSHUA the computer from the orignal, Not a totally bad movie fun to watch but nowhere near as good as the orignal

A harmless follow up to the 80's classic about a teenager accidentally setting armageddon in motion. What comes off at first as a remake rather than a sequel gets point for proper recognition of the events of the first movie. We even get a welcome return of the actual supercomput...( read more)er from the first movie, the WOPR, otherwise known as Joshua. Complete with voicebox and all. It starts a bit slow, but picks up speed for the last 30 minutes, culminating in a scene very reminiscent of the NORAD scene in the original movie. It's a fast moving scene that does a good job of drawing you in, and makes for a very exciting third act. The scenario changes from nuclear war to terrorist threats to fit in with the modern times. Matt Lanter and Amanda Walsh are the teens on the run, and they give servicable performances, but really don't generate any chemistry between them. Plus, and this is a personal nitpick, Amanda Walsh has perhaps the most upturned nose I've seen in movies, and it is disturbingly distracting every time she turns to profile. The movie isn't going to break any new ground, but it's direct-to-video, so you have to make allowances. It's a decent little hacker story, not up to par with the orignal, but fun nonetheless.

Welcome to The Dead Code, the deadliest game you'll ever play. Will Farmer hacks into a restricted government defense system called Ripley, which is designed to appeal to potential terrorists, while engaging in an online terrorist simulation game in which his hometown is the targ...( read more)et. But with his identity, family, and friends jeopardized, Will's only hope in clearing his name is to beat the odds of fighting Ripley in a race of time. He'll have to complete every level before Ripley unleashes total annihilation. Starring the great acting performanced by Matt Lanter, Amanda Walsh, and Nicolas Wright.

Originally made as a nuclear war simulation back in the 1983 original film, Wargames: The Dead Code now uses a similar scenario but uses terrorism by rogue groups in its place as its main plot, starting with Will's online gaming to win the prize money for a school trip. I can say that Matt Lanter does his great acting performance just as Matthew Broderick did with a matching role: the computer hacker. When the makers of this film do mention Ripley as its villain, it's obviously an Alien reference to me. And what about the "Play with me, baby" dialogue? It's repetitive, but it sounds too seductive-sounding. The new Wargames definitely does its great action sequences as our main character is on the run from the law, which made this exciting and unusual for the typical direct-to-video sequel.

I never got past the first 20 mins, it was so boring! Waste of time!

pretty good for a straight to DVD movie, very funny how they waited 25 Years to make a sequel to "WarGames". love Matt Lanter! :D

I think my IQ dropped a few points watching this one. Overly complicated story, bad acting, (with the exception of Amanda Walsh, who was decent), not even a scratch on the original. Best avoided.

Quite so predictable movie, but still quite interesting

Great movie. Awesome for a teenage nerd like myself. I'm guessing it wouldn't appeal to other people who don't understand some of what happens.
