starts off with a similar plot to quite a few other westerns and then moves into complexity and conflicting emotions. however the film as a whole never really gets above average, but as i find pleasure in nihilism it gets a slightly higher rating
This is a five star Western but lost a half star because it would have been very interesting to see Widmark in the Fonda role.
if you like westerns - you have to see this one Richard Widmark puts in a top performance
if you like westerns - you have to see this one, watch it a couple of times. One of Leone's favorites.
