Weekend at Bernie's
When two bumbling businessmen, Larry Wilson (Andrew McCarthy) and Richard Parker (Jonathan Silverman), alert their boss, Bernie Lomax (Terry Kiser), to an expensive discrepancy in the company books, he invites them to his home on the beach with the intent to have them murdered. However when they discover that their boss has been murdered prior to their arrival, they attempt to convince people that he is still alive to avoid suspicion for his death, leading to all kinds of wacky mishaps. ~ Iotis Erlewine, Rovi

Critic Reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

"A silly uninspired juvenile one-joke film."
‑ Dennis Schwartz, Ozus' World Movie Reviews
"...might just be the ultimate wacky '80s comedy..."
‑ David Nusair, Reel Film Reviews
"Weekend at Bernie?s doesn?t really work, partly because it expects a single joke, that nobody realizes Bernie?s dead, to carry the whole movie."
‑ Blake French, Filmcritic.com
"A classic of the dumb, hit-on-the-head comedy genre!"
‑ Nell Minow, Movie Mom at Yahoo! Movies
"Bizarre and campy. And what's funnier than sight gags involving dead bodies waterskiing?"
‑ Audrey Rock-Richardson, Tooele Transcript-Bulletin (Utah)
"Couldn't even drag a smile out of me. Chalk it up to either old age or the calcification of taste. Or just blame it on Silverman and McCarthy, who found their careers rightfully torn to shreds soon after the release of the film."
‑ Brian Orndorf, BrianOrndorf.com
"Hilarious goofball comedy from the late 80s."
‑ Kevin Carr, 7M Pictures
"A film like Weekend at Bernie's should be commended for being smart enough to be so dumb."
‑ Michael Brody, CinemaBlend.com
"So terribly corny, it's irresistible!"
‑ Clint Morris, Moviehole
"There are a few jokes that hit home quite successfully, but at 98 minutes, you'll probably be looking forward to this weekend's big finale."
‑ Scott Weinberg, DVD Clinic
"Tasteless one-joke premise actually evokes laughs."
‑ Steve Crum, Kansas City Kansan
"Really funny. Also really stupid. Still, it delivers the laughs."
‑ Alex Sandell, Juicy Cerebellum
"Passable time-killer"
‑ Ken Hanke, Mountain Xpress (Asheville, NC)
