Dark, creepy movie shot in the handheld style. One of the better takes on this. I ended up feeling pretty creepy by the end. Took way too long to get there and the actors were super annoying.
The first half of this was just plain annoying. I got really tired of "Bijou and Mikey", the arguing and acting stupid. It was a senseless idea to go searching for someone who had been missng for that long, with very little chance, if any--of survivng. And the worst thing was, their motive was money.
I think the reviews are a little off here for the gore factor. Bijou's death was done nicely, but I'd like to see a little more into the tribe.
Another one of those handheld camera adventures...but it wasn't as bad actually. The story, well the lack there of was terrible but the overall execution was ok. Weird gruesome adventure but in a way somewhat believable, there are lots of tribes that we don't know nothing about. Not too bad...
The first hour felt like a travelogue on the National Geographic channel because not much really happened other than these people walking around the jungle. The last twenty minutes were pretty intense with at least one image that won't leave my memory for some time. Yikes.
Best parts of the movie is at the ending, but you have to watch the not so good but alright documentary type movie through to understand what is going on.
I don't really like these documentary style horrors to be honest. This movie was absolutely disgusting and twisted. But only in later stages. The first half was really boring and nothing was ever happening, just really annoying quarrels between the main characters and that's it.
Later on there is some really gory action, you see limbs and blood scattered all over the place... yummy...but overall I didn't really like the movie that much.
To be honest it was a waste of my time and money.

<<"People go missing every day...but not the son of the Vice President of the United States...and not in Cannibal territory. In 1961, the disappearance of Michael Rockefeller led to the largest manhunt in U.S history.">>
The story follows two young couples who head into the New Guinea wilderness in an effort to find Michael Rockefeller, the heir to the Rockefeller fortune who disappeared in 1961.
I had set my expectations pretty low...but man did I not expect it to be this bad. The DVD cover was beaming with reviews, stating it was 'Quite possibly the most terrifying film of the last decade'...this film is anything but.
It all starts at the first frame. Not only throughout the film is it technically flawed (we are meant to get the effect of hand held style on a handicam, yet each person has professional steadicam experience and the cameras quality is top notch...and how many times was there a 5th person holding the camera when there was meant to be 4?), we are introduced to 4 of the most immature, inhuman characters you will ever see grace the screen for many years to come. Alongside some atrocious and unrealistic dialogue, the actors deliver so horribly that I could never even believe that they were trying to act normal. From there the film runs at a mere 80 minutes, yet for 60 of them, we are slowly dragged through there journey towards there destination and we encounter more of there dull personalities and even some unbelievable over the top moments when the characters fight...and what was up with the missionaries and the characters horrible attitude towards them?
By the time we have endured that hour, we couldn't care less about anything that is going on and even when you get a damn decent shot or two of the gore, I never felt my excitement rise above nothing. Another horrible film to hold great reviews all over its cover, Welcome To The Jungle is unbelievably bare and dull on every single level
For A horror film that is supposed to be based on a true story...and in the same format as Blairwitch Project....Not...waste of time.
This movie is terrible until the pretty cool ending. We spend close to an hour with totally unlikable characters before anything of real importance happens (and I know the characters in Cannibal Holocaust are unlikable too, but at least they were evil along with being assholes), but when the payoff comes, it's pretty satisfying. Director Hensleigh made the same mistake with his Punisher film, showing way, way too much horseshit before getting to the meat of the movie (wow, seriously, that pun was not intended) and losing half the audience. It's okay if you're developing story or characters, but this is just padding, and annoying padding at that. I wish padding were more like Pad Thai, I love Pad Thai. Nevertheless, I don't remember any Jungle Cannibal movies that I dislike and I would hate to break that record, hell I even liked the awful Cannibal Terror. Until the cannibal genre is run into the dirt along with it's kin the zombie film, I shall still watch, and probably love and cherish, every cannibal opus to be released. Have I mentioned Pad Thai? I love it.
Four twentysomethings come up with a get rich plan and head to New Guinea to find Michael Rockefeller, the son of a vice-president who disappeared in the 60's. All of the cameras are ran by the kids themselves and apparently someone finds the footage which is what you are watching. Sound familiar? Well that's because this is actually a loose remake of Cannibal Holocaust sans the animal killings.
I enjoyed the last 30 minutes but you have to endure the preceding 60 with the cast acting like they're on MTV's 'The Real World'; they bitch, whine, insult each other, throw tantrums and then die gruesome deaths just like the show--well, except the dying part, unfortunately.
This movie was one of the worst movies that I have ever seen. It took an hour and a half before anyone died and when they did it sucked there was no point to even making a movie like this. If you are thinking about getting it dont it is a complete waste of money. It was horrible one of the worst movies ever made. It had low rate effects no gore and it was a horrible waste of time movie that again there was no point in making.
We wished had looked and seen was a documentary and even at that it should be in the depressing category because was very bad
