Wes Craven Presents Wishmaster Reviews and Ratings

  • November 18, 2009
Andrew Divoff (a.k.a Mikael from lost) made this movie worth watching. He is probably one of the best villains, but the movie suffers from cheap effects and a dragging plot. It makes no sense at times, but it has a lot of unintentionally hilarious moments.

Mindless entertainment. But I really can't take a movie seriously when the bad guy reminds me of the villain from the Power Rangers movie.

i love this movie but im gettin pissed off because i cant find it anywhere. does anyone know where to watch it online?
  • October 4, 2009
Il ove all the wish masters well done!
  • October 1, 2009
Fun idea. I liked the orgy scene but a lot of the 'Wishes' didn't make sense, like the 'I wish I could escape' scene. Mindless fun.

Oh lol I like Wishmaster movies, he is so funny how he gets people to say "I wish..." and then it comes true (in the worst possible way!)
  • September 11, 2009
I like the plot of using haman's wish to hurt them, watched it when I was very young and it scared the hell out of me, and watched it again when in highschool, don't understand why it's not as fun as the first time...

A fun and Gory horror, definately worth a watch.
  • August 24, 2009
    Englund knows horror.
  • August 22, 2009

  • June 24, 2009
One crazy thriller. An original horror icon.
  • June 3, 2009
A smarter critic would say they wish for a better movie but it's ok for a few laughs, thanks to the Djinn's awfully pedantic form of wish fulfilment.
  • April 26, 2009
A plain horror movie that gave way to many sequels. Very straight to video in my opinion.
  • March 2, 2009
I really like the idea of this movie and i remember being scared the first time i watched it. the acting and the effects are pretty bad but still, worth watching. "be careful what you wish for"
  • February 15, 2009
A malevolent Djinn released into modern times will rule the world if he can trick a woman into asking him to grant her three wishes. Fun enough horror outing that could have been much better if it put as much effort into the cat-and-mouse aspects of the wishing game as it does t...( read more)he (admittedly good) special effects.

    a pretty good movie.
  • February 2, 2009

This could have been a better horror film. It did have some good effects but some of the story and acting are questionable.

This movie movie had some really good special effects. One of my favorites is when a guys skeleton rips out of his body. The acting was sub-par however, that is easily overlooked, because the movie keeps you engaged at all times.

Despite the numerous plot holes, silly storyline and equal acting, I must admit this film has great special effects and a high fun-factor. Any movie that can incorporate a guy turning into sand, skeletons ripping out of bodies and killing people, killer statues and the bum from ...( read more)back to the future gets an A in my book.

Got this mainly for Robert Englund, but turns out it was pretty decent. The gore is awesome.
  • October 1, 2008
An original take on genies, I prefer these to the childish imitations that everyone's has heard about.
  • September 20, 2008
Wishmaster features numerous horror-movie actors, including Robert Englund (the A Nightmare on Elm Street movies), Angus Scrimm (Phantasm), Tony Todd (Night of the Living Dead, the Candyman movies), Kane Hodder (various Friday the 13th movies), Reggie Bannister (Phantasm) and Ted...( read more) Raimi (Darkman, Army of Darkness). So you know it's at least going to be entertaining in that aspect, and it is. Mixing these legends of horror into one film is a horror fans dream, although it would be a better dream if all the characters from the films that made them famous were included. No worries though, Wishmaster is still a fun and interesting movie

Andrew Divoff plays an ancient demon known only as 'The Djinn'. Similar to a Genie Lamp, when the jewel that The Djinn is trapped inside is rubbed by a human, he is released. The one who has released him must supply three questions so The Djinn may release Hell onto the planet. Not surprisingly, he finds more trouble than he expected. The woman who has released The Djinn is desperately trying to elude the strange demon by hiding in various places. On his quest to find her, the demon encounters many people who are willing to sacrifice their souls for something they desire.

    seen it good scary movie
  • July 17, 2008
A refreshing take on horror films in which The Wishmaster always turns the persons wish into something they didn't want. Andrew Divoff is awesome and has always been overlooked as an actor.
  • July 9, 2008
A great idea for a film.
  • June 26, 2008
I only gave it 3 stars due to the Stars of Horror Films playing victims to the Wishmaster
  • June 19, 2008
It was really good. I saw it on sci-fi channel it is one of those movies that you don't wanna watch but can't look away from. It ended up being very good because it had that right amount of violence and a sufficient plot
  • June 18, 2008
One of the best stories Craven has directed.
  • June 4, 2008
i used to hate this movie when i was younger....
  • May 14, 2008
I was impressed to see what this movie could do with such a small budget. However this movie is more like a collection of homages to horror fans rather than being it's own creation.
  • May 12, 2008
Review will be written when/if re-watched (Probability: Zero).

    First viewing: 23.07.1998

I hate horror movies... especially this guy's!
  • May 5, 2008
I was very excited when I first started watching this, seeing as how Robert Englund and Kane Hodder are in it, but after it was over I just wasn't that intrigued. It's not bad, it just doesn't live up to it's full potential.
  • April 3, 2008
Andrew Divoff as the wish granting Djin. He makes the character he plays on LOST look like a sissy.
  • April 1, 2008
A really cheesy slasher (I think) movie
  • March 29, 2008
Becareful wat you wish for ...
  • March 29, 2008
not a bad horror film but have seen better
  • March 25, 2008
oh god, why haven't i heard of this one before?! i have to see it, absolutely have to!
  • March 21, 2008
I loved the Wishmaster character and the storyline. Great horror classic done once again by a genious Wes Craven.
  • March 20, 2008
Suprisingly enjoyable, mostly for the dark take on Djinns/ Genies. Horror cameos were also a plus.
  • March 16, 2008
Gruesome toward the end, and typical 80s horror film.
