Conflict builds when the pastry machine owned by The Kosher King accidentally edges over onto land owned by The Hummus Hut. This prompts the Palestinians to destroy the machine, and the Israelis retaliate by building a wall between the two properties. In the end, however, love prevails, and the obliteration of both restaurants induces the two families to establish a truce and lay the foundation for future harmony. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

Oscar winner in 2007 for Best Short Film.West Bank Story is a musical comedy that parody's the hit West Side Story in this comedic spoof about the ongoing war in the West Bank between Palestinians and Jews.At first, this sounds rather tasteless giving the circumstances. But what this engaging little film does so well is illustrate the lack of understanding and sympathy on both sides. With a "why can't we all just get along" tone, this film does a great job of remaining neutral... never pointing a finger at either side. It equally trivializes and humiliates both parties.This fast-paced comedy follows 2 rival neighboring fast food chains (of course a Jewish place and a Palestinian one) that are constantly competing for business. Many hilarious stereotypes of both sides are used in order to maintain a comedic, light-hearted tone to a serious subject. I am of the belief that it was tastefully executed... but others may disagree.Overall, this is a funny hidden little gem that won an Oscar. It's extremely relevant, and well worth your time if you can find it on Itunes or download it somewhere.
