When his 10-year-old son, Pascal, becomes fatally ill with leukemia after accidentally being exposed to atomic fallout, wealthy French-American businessman Laurent discovers that he has never really known his boy. Laurent withdraws the child from school and decides to devote himself entirely to the boy during his final months. He grants all of Pascal's wishes in their new Paris chateau, even buying his son such Christmas gifts as a pair of wolves.
