Alan Ladd, Brenda Marshall, Donald Crisp

Railroad officer Luke Smith (Alan Ladd) finds his convictions tested when an old friend, Murray Sinclair (Robert Preston), veers off the tracks after losing his job and starts disrupting the trains ou...( read more  read more... )t of rage. Smith understands Sinclair's anger, but must also perform his duties as a man of the law. Complicating matters is Smith's growing affection for Murray's estranged wife (Brenda Marshall), which he knows shouldn't cloud his judgment.

    It's a classic old fashioned Western. If Westerns aren't your thing, you probably won't care much for it. The performances from Ladd and Preston are very good. The plot is more believable as well. The ending seemed a bit abrupt, but good nonetheless.
