Tom Huddleston, Time Out
It becomes clear why Oprah is such a huge Perry fan.
-
Lisa Rosman, Time Out New York
Burdened with a bevy of unlikely plot twists, this is less a movie sequel than the latest installment in a big-screen soap opera.
-
Michael Ordoña, Los Angeles Times
Not only is Perry in tune with his audience as always, he's unquestionably growing as a cinematic artist.
-
Wesley Morris, Boston Globe
If Perry's cinematic vision remains less than 20/20, his sagacity gets stronger by the movie.
-
Mike Hale, New York Times
Worth mentioning is the queasy dynamic in which the male characters' violent impulses are condemned in theory but, when acted on, seem to be implicitly excused, or at least overlooked.
-
Jen Chaney, Washington Post
[It] plays like an empty but diverting beach read. Your brain recognizes that the dialogue, for example, doesn't come from any place that remotely resembles relationship reality.
-
Jeff Beck, Examiner.com
There are some decent performances here, particularly from Jill Scott, but they just can't save the clichéd material from weighing down the whole film.
-
Tim Brayton, Antagony & Ecstasy
Tyler Perry's worst film.
-
Anthony Quinn, Independent
Hopelessly inert and dreary.
-
Xan Brooks, Guardian [UK]
Perry has plugged a hole in the market, for sure; it's just all a bit pleased with itself.
-
David Edwards, Daily Mirror [UK]
Go to see it and you may ask yourself why did I bother?
-
James King, Little White Lies
Fans of utter predictability will be well satisfied.
-
David Gritten, Daily Telegraph
Even a scene with Janet Jackson trashing a living room cannot lighten the laboured atmosphere.
-
Karen Krizanovich, Radio Times
Undermined by its inability to stand separately from its predecessor.
-
Helen OHara, Empire Magazine
Sometimes shrill, always uneven...
-
Robbie Collin, News of the World
It's gone way past film bad -- all the way to crime bad, and personally I'd put the act of making Why Did I Get Married Too? on a level with seven burglaries.
-
Tim Evans, Sky Movies
Basically, it's Barbershop with bigger bucks.
-
Matthew Turner, ViewLondon
The story is relentlessly bland and the script constantly panders to its family values-obsessed audience, neutering all the characters in the process.
-
Prairie Miller, NewsBlaze
Finding this occasionally over the top nasty domestic strife entertaining, depends on whether you have a tendency to put your nosy ears closer to the wall when married neighbors squabble loudly, or would rather cover them up for the annoying duration.

I love Angela and Marcus couple. Angela is hilarious and never fails me to laugh. But this wasn't better than the first one. I felt slightly bored. But I gotta admit there were some scenes that will make you laugh out real loud. The story is pretty much the same only with some twists here and there. The ending was unexpected and sad.

DIRECTOR: Tyler Perry
SUMMRY: Four couples reunite for their annual vacation in order to socialize and to spend time analyzing their marriages. Their intimate week in the Bahamas is disrupted by the arrival of an ex-husband determined to win back his recently remarried wife.
MY THOUGHTS: REALLY different from the first. Darker with a lot more going on. Janet Jackson really brought the drama. Her character really goes through a lot. I read she channeled her brother greivence to take her through the emotions of the movie, which is really sad knowing that and seeing her cry and break down. But it's not all sad and gloom. It has comedy, and it's pretty funny. But that's all Tasha Smith. Her character is as crazy as ever and very funny. I was really surprised by the ending. I was also surprised with the actor who does a small cameo in end of the movie with Janet Jackson. I think maybe there will be another movie brought from that small introduction. Good movie. Just as good as the first. Worth seeing if you liked the first film.

Never boring, but for all the wrong reasons. (http://bit.ly/dKDJ7E)

Based on his past syrupy dramas with the plot structures of Little Golden Books, the prolific Tyler Perry can clearly do bad all by himself. Audience-approved but critically disapproved, Perry?s bottomless bottle of feel-good pills had worn down this reviewer?s will to live as opposed to built it up. Then came the aptly titled I Can Do Bad All By Myself, which actually stood testament to this filmmaker?s cinematic strengths as much as his weaknesses. Why Did I Get Married Too? actually does this flick one better, giving Perry his most affecting work yet. Oh, the movie is still cloying fluff at times, but ? whereas most writer/directors wouldn?t fix what wasn?t broken - success has remarkably made Perry a better writer and filmmaker ? mostly because he ditched a 7-foot granny-in-drag called Madea.
In this PG-13-rated sequel, four close couples (Jackson, Perry, et al) gather in the Bahamas for an annual reunion where they find themselves confronting issues of fidelity and commitment.
This reviewer remembers little of this movie?s predecessor, other than the fact that the set-up and camera shots were simple and the plot complications even simpler. Here, the set-up and shots are still simple, but the plot thickens thanks to a darker second act shift to the homefront where their vacation discussions boil over into some well-wrought drama. Perry?s storytelling skills and dialogue have improved, as has his ? gasp ? acting. In truth, the movie barely crests above average, but Perry?s cockeyed optimism is thankfully becoming an easier pill for this terminally cynical reviewer to swallow.
Bottom line: Married?with improvement.

This movie is all over the place and like the first movie, I watched it because I needed to h8te on a movie after a blah day. These movies are not very original and Janet Jackson is one of it's biggest problems, especially this time around. Her storyline was really overdone in the first movie and it basically continues in this one as she deals with her emotions and just plain insanity.
The other problem is that this movie extends beyond the week vacation because they need more to go on so we see them back home for more story. So why drag it out for 2 hours? You can't connect with any of the characters because nothing seems genuine and the last 45 minutes ago are just INSANE!

Over the top relationship-drama. Good performances for the most part but the writing could have been a lot better.

This sequel was definitely darker and more serious than the first 'Married' movie. But it still had plenty of laughs courtesy of Tasha Smith's crazy butt. I heard Janet Jackson channeled her brother's death when doing the sadder more serious scenes and it definitely showed. Just like the first, everyone's marriages are still on the rocks and looking even less likely to mend. Yes, Tyler Perry's movies tend to be formulaic and predictable, but this one (like Daddy's Little Girls) still has a message worth telling: marriage is hard. Marriage is work. Can you make it past differences? Communicate? Or are the problems just too great and should you just end it? This movie ended much differently than the first, but I'm glad Perry did so. If you like Perry movies, give this one a look-see, but don't expect it to be all laughs.
