When director Sturla Gunnarsson began production on Beowulf and Grendel, he was well prepared for the typical complications that go along with producing a feature film. What he wasn't ready for was the series of inexplicable disasters that made the entire crew begin to believe that the Norse gods themselves were attempting to sabotage the production. From the blessing that turned into a curse to the awful weather, the loss of expensive equipment, a horrific car crash, a sinking Viking ship, and constant financial struggles, this was a production that would have made even Terry Gilliam weep.
