Gets the mood, pace and the attitudes of the times pretty well. I'd recommend it if you are interested in this story, and especially if you already know about Wyatt Earp. If not, it's going to be a bit slow for you.

MCT:April 2, 2008Yes it's long, but it's great. Fantastic cast and beautiful story-telling. Dennis Quaid is fantastic as Doc Holiday. Notice a young James Caviezel (The Passion of the Christ) as Wyatt's younger brother. A must own for a fan of the western genre.

I disagree that this is a must watch for anyone who likes this genre, it's just an average film. not bad, not too good either.
Strangely enough, Denis Quaid's character is pretty well made and I liked his acting here but Kevin Costner was kind of mediocre. Would be nice if they gave Gene Hackman a bigger role. -

Yawn. Also, this movie made me want to kick Costner's ass. Pick up Tombstone instead. Dennis Quaid is really good as Doc Holliday though.
