*Brinkley - the dog that only appears when Kathleen is around. NO SEX! And Joe Fox is an arse. But they are both lovely and I'm a sucker for romance (unfortunately).

While it is far less effective than, say Sleepless in Seattle, it is still a great team up of Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. The two have an extremely great amount of chemistry and have no problem entertaining the viewer. This story isn't all that interesting, but it's definitely worth ...( read more)a watch.

fall in love with this 'mail'...

Creo que es de las pocas "comedias romanticas" que me gustan. A pesar de Tom Hanks... la historia esta fregona. Y es que Meg Ryan me encanta. Se me hace una mujer muy tierna y femenina.

LOVE this movie - came out when i was at the peak of getting into email and online forums etc.
  • October 25, 2009
Not as funny as the 1st time I saw it
  • October 24, 2009
Very cute romantic comedy, maybe overly so, but it works, primarily due to the chemistry of Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. One big drawback for me was that it seemed like a two hour ad for AOL. It is rather predictable and trendy, but it is also appealing and very well made.

  • October 4, 2009
I saw this for the first time just recently... Even though it's now noticeably out-dated, I quite enjoyed the movie. It surpassed my expectations quite a bit - I just turned it on because not much else was on. I expected to lose interest, but I was hooked. I was really amused...( read more) by the character that Tom Hanks played - his unapologetic sarcasm and such-like.

"What will NY152 say today, I wonder. I turn on my computer, I wait impatiently as it boots up. I go online, and my breath catches in my chest until I hear three little words: 'You've got mail'. It is very cute. I cannot remember a sad part of the film except for the closing of Meg Ryan's store. A great example of a "feel-good" movie. I was hugging myself after watching the film. Almost a floating. Nora Ephron is a master when it comes to this kind of film. Even though I...( read more) haven't seen her monster hits I know the are as good as this movie. The best character for me is Christina & Birdie. They was essential in the entertainment aspect of the film. They were also very lovable. If you want some good aroma of something, better watch this. It will give you a lift :D

Oh well with this particular couple, you'd have to think "perfection", esp. after "Sleepless in Seattle", but the truth is this movie is a total *bore*. How sad.

Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks do a great job together in You've Got Mail like they do in all their movies. There's not many duos that could do better and You've Got Mail is certainly no exception. You've Got Mail takes you where many of us are experienced, the internet. Meg Ryan and Tom...( read more) Hanks fall in love while talking to each other over instant messages and e-mails every day. All the while, they're bigtime business rivals and they don't even know it. Tom Hanks opens a new and real successful bookstore right across from Meg Ryan's. Meg's bookstore has been there for many many years and since Tom's bookstore moved across the street, Meg's bookstore has been suffering more and more each day and is so bad it might have to go out of business.
The whole time throughout the rival between the two with the successful bookstores, they exchange on the internet and don't find out until the end who they've been talking to. If you're a fan of the other Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks movies or if you like getting on the internet and know what it's like to get to know or meet people over the computer, then you will probably like this movie a lot. NOTE: That was my Amazon review from the year 2000. I did love the movie a lot when I first saw it at theaters, but I've since seen the duo's other movies and it's not their best, or a favorite of mine, but still very nice. I saw this when I hadn't long had Internet, which gave it brownie points at the time.
  • August 14, 2009
    Watched it many times
  • August 12, 2009
    my all time fav~!!!~
  • August 10, 2009
    Very long movie. Pretty good.
  • August 4, 2009
another tom and meg film? I'll pass

UPDATE: I ended up seeing it. Late night tv does that sometimes. So I gather it must have been a christmas flick. Not often a good sign. I liked the duo so much more in Joe vs. the volcanoe.
  • August 4, 2009
no matter how much you may hate chick flicks, which i don't, you still have to admit that this movie wasn't terrible. it was in fact pretty damn good
  • August 4, 2009
Meg Rayen & Tom Hanks they ar always good together.
  • August 4, 2009
My favorite Meg Ryan film and close to being my favorite romantic movie. Hanks and Ryan are great together. They remind us that everyone's tough exterior isn't always who they really are. "You can't eat that caviar...it's a garnish!"
