Part thriller, part horror, part drama, this is a mysterious, surreal and beguiling effort from director Kirill Serebrennikov, which invites the audience to take on the role of detective in the mystery of a young man's disappearance from an isolated Russian community.
Quite something!!! This Arthouse film is questioning people social behavior ( in this case russian, but could be perfectly any), its capability of individuality, its capability of community, placing the human being's soul at the centre of identity quest. It is painful.

Quite something!!! This Arthouse film is questioning people social behavior ( in this case russian, but could be perfectly any), its capability of individuality, its capability of community, placing the human being soul at the centre of identity quest. It is painful.
Among other qualities, the strongest point is an amazing script, written by Yuri Arabov (Sokurov's scriptwriter) Cinematography, acting and sound are additional delights to perception (at least mine)
