A great American crime film. It takes the true story of the infamous Zodiac Killer and creates a narrative around it. The film's three part storytelling was both suspenseful and dynamic. The entire cast gave a great effort and made the experience all the more enjoyable. David Fin...( read more)cher's style was slightly tweaked to fit the time period, but it still is very much his film.

A thrilling ride from start to end.

Nice to see a movie that actually sticks to the facts. The reason I liked the movie is because it is not over acted. Nice a must see movie for anyone who wants to know what Californioa was like back then.

    Truly an underrated film.

Fincher does many things well when directing. Suspense,Violent Art Direction, and daring, but masterfully created storytelling.

I know this film is 157 minutes, but it doesn't nearly seem as long. This film is very differen then normal cop-thrillers, cause it defys the co...( read more)mpetition with no car chases, or major gun fights, but actually follows police procedure, and the true side of murder-homicide investigation. It spirals in and out of control throughout the entire film, blasting something new at you every other scene. This is some of Fincher's best work.

I strongly reccomend you see this film, unless you get scared easily, or are easily sqeumish.

David Fincher's "Zodiac" is the director's first foray back into the darkly lit world of a serial killer since his 1995 breakthrough, "Se7en." In its own epic, uniquely fascinating true-crime way, "Zodiac" is just about as good!

Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Robert Graysmith, upon...( read more) whose true-crime expose books the film is based, a San Francisco Chronicle cartoonist with a zeal and passion for unsolvable puzzles. He meets his match when he cracks a code sent to the paper by the notorious "Zodiac," a masked murderer (never caught) who terrorized the Bay Area in the late 60s and into the 70s.

Graysmith has two detectives (Mark Ruffalo and a surprising Anthony Edwards, formerly of "ER"-fame), a fellow reporter (Robert Downey Jr.) and his own children at his disposal, and still the exact nature of who or what the Zodiac was has washed away with time.

The film has a major suspect (Graysmith and the cops' opinion of who Zodiac was) - Arthur Lee Allan (played with chilling aplomb by John Carroll Lynch, of "Fargo"), who looms over every scene he's in with the distinct sense that he could've been the Zodiac killer. With Allan now long-since dead, we'll never know. But the Zodiac killings stopped all those years ago and the mystery remains unsolved.

Fincher's film is stylistically brilliant, re-creating the world of that time, place, etc. better than any film of this type since Spike Lee's "Summer of Sam" (1999). It's an astonishing film.

  • October 27, 2009
Its very interesting, a lot of suspense and mistery involved in this film, and of course a lot of drama going on as well as the masacres of the killings
  • October 21, 2009
The Zodiac killer is still unknown how fuckin creepy is that. He could be Chloe Sevigny for all I know.

Fincher's films have this gritty realness to them I admire. Depicting the case files in the form of a suspense movie doesn't seem easy, but it was done extremely well. This is exactly the kind of detective movie I like.

A really enjoyable thriller! Fincher's direction is a joy as he paces the story of the Zodiac investigation with great dignity and detail. Not for people who like their thrillers slap-dash and fast-paced, neither is this for people who are expecting a Se7en sequel. Great style, g...( read more)reat acting, great film, some dodgy blue-screen moments, but still, great film.

The film is very complex and runs at an incredible speed, throughing in a non-stop and merciless way names, events, places and characters at the screen.

It's a good movie, but it's too long for a story you know how it's going to end..
  • September 10, 2009
the only difference among zodiac and any movie about serial killers is that zodiac is much longer (almost 3 hours)
well, it's really great for someone who loves this kind of film only, but for anyone else it isnt as good, nor bad ... just okay
  • September 7, 2009
GREAT movie, i cant beleive how insanely accurate the first half is and of course, the second half cant be quite as accurate because its speculation by the books author but neverthless, what the author deduces might be closer to the truth than we may realize
  • September 7, 2009
Very interesting, I got really sucked into this movie... it's amazing the obsession the zodiac killer himself has attracted considering he's never been caught....there's just so much speculation surrounding him and his crimes. The movie itself was engrossing, even though you know...( read more) the killer never gets caught.
I've seen a lot of real life crime stories on the zodiac, and its amazing how many people believe their relative, father, friend etc is responsible for the zodiac killings, which makes it all the more fascinating.
  • September 6, 2009
Smart, compelling and well acted. I can't speak for the accuracy, but it's a good story.
  • September 6, 2009
A meticulously made crime/mystery film; It is long but a pleasure watching it.
  • September 5, 2009
what interests me is that it's not a story of zodiac,it's a story of people got involved.

a bit too long, but showing each characters nternal tangles, suffers and stuff very well.

I thought this was a great film. It was kinda stretched out over 2 1/2 hour, but there was a lot of character development within that time. And the film did not feel like it was that long, which is usually a good sign for me.
The actors gave ,in my opinion, an superb preformance.

suspenseful scene in the basement of the house... great dedication to solve this crime...

2 jam 40 menit berjalan tanpa terasa karena film ini sangat membangkitkan rasa excited yang mendalam. This movie was even better than I hoped it would be! An incredibly interesting character study of all those involved in solving the Zodiac crimes. I was blown away by the quality of the performances!
  • August 15, 2009
Good stuff. Well acted on the whole (especially by Ruffalo) and even though it is long as a DMV line, it doesn't get slow or boring. The ending is as proper a tone as the reality of the case.
  • August 14, 2009
it have seen the first half of it but got bored
  • August 13, 2009
Splendidly executed and boasting an excellent cast, this film was at times, surprisingly dull. Worth watching though, the events it's based on are compelling enough in themselves, and the acting and cinematography is first rate.
  • August 12, 2009
could have been better. Quite drawn out

I tried to watch this movie..but just couldn't get into it.
  • August 8, 2009
I'm so much a fan of movies-based-on-actual-events. Crazy about this cast too. Gyllenhaal, Downey and Ruffalo all ace their characters and add a lot of depth.
