Let's be real. When you rent a low-budget cult-ish horror movie you can't expect Citizen Kane. It is what it is. And, for what it is, it isn't half bad. There are even a couple of scenes (i.e. Zombie vs. Shark and "There is something in my eye") that are downright almo...( read more)st nearly sorta good.

This is just good, old-fashioned zombie madness with no rhyme or reason behind it other than to be true, honest-to-goodness entertainment. The gore flows freely, the makeup looks great, the effects are wonderful, the zombies are plentiful, and the shark scene is perhaps one of t...( read more)he most awesome concepts ever put to film. Don't go in expecting something thoughtful or deep - this is classic zombie mayhem, pure and simple. It's Fulci in his glory. Simply sit back, relax, switch off and enjoy.

She meets the journalist Peter West (Ian McCulloch) and they decide to investigate what might have happened to her father. They travel to Matul Island with Brian Hull (Al Cliver) and Susan Barrett (Auretta Gay) in their boat. Once in the tropical island, they meet Dr. David Menard (Richard Johnson), who is trying to find a cure to a disease that brings dead back to life, turning them into zombies that eat human flesh.

"Zombie 2" is a horror classic of Lucio Fulci with a simple, but interesting screenplay. The unforgettable story begins like Nosferatu, with an empty boat arriving in a harbor with a zombie instead of a vampire; shows the naked body of two beautiful actresses, Auretta Gay and Olga Karlatos; is very gore, with a death that slightly recalls the famous scene of Buñuel in "Un Chien Andalou", when the zombie perforates the eye of Paola Menard; and has a very scary and impressive make-up, with zombies eating human flesh and biting and killing people. The sister of Mia Farrow, Tisa Farrow, has a good performance in this cult-movie. My vote is eight.

Title (Brazil): "Zombie ? O Retorno dos Mortos" ("Zombie ? The Return of the Dead")

Good cult zombie film. Has a decent story line, but it slowly went out of control. The Zombies were excellent as... Well... Zombies, pretty graphic at times. For a 1979 film compared to today's zombie films Zombie holds its own, no questions bout it.

I had big expectations about this film cuz Lucio Fulci is like known for his cool zombie art, but the movie gets boring and i didnt want to admit it but people are right when they say some parts are like a rip-off from another movie that i wont mention hehe...In conclusion: Cool ...( read more)zombies (one of the best i`ve ever seen), cool bloody efects, boring movie.

Honestly I like this zombie flick even more than the original Dawn of the Dead. It's cheap and depressing, with a monotonous score that speaks of impending doom for all. The gore is ridiculous and over-the-top, the zombies shuffle maddeningly slow, and the lead actress is Mia Farrow's sister. Add in several awesome set pieces--zombie vs. shark, eye-piercing sequence, zombie conquistadors rising from their graves in the daylight--and you've got horror exploitation par excellence. Bravissimo!
