Let's be real. When you rent a low-budget cult-ish horror movie you can't expect Citizen Kane. It is what it is. And, for what it is, it isn't half bad. There are even a couple of scenes (i.e. Zombie vs. Shark and "There is something in my eye") that are downright almo...( read more)

This is just good, old-fashioned zombie madness with no rhyme or reason behind it other than to be true, honest-to-goodness entertainment. The gore flows freely, the makeup looks great, the effects are wonderful, the zombies are plentiful, and the shark scene is perhaps one of t...( read more)

VERY outrageous. The racist dialogue and underwater zombie/shark scene is worth watching. The movie is just so bad and nuts that it truly becomes a piece of art. The music is great, a total homage to Romero's stuff. This is probably not anything close to what anyone wanting a seq...( read more)

Good cult zombie film. Has a decent story line, but it slowly went out of control. The Zombies were excellent as... Well... Zombies, pretty graphic at times. For a 1979 film compared to today's zombie films Zombie holds its own, no questions bout it.

November 10, 2007Honestly I like this zombie flick even more than the original Dawn of the Dead. It's cheap and depressing, with a monotonous score that speaks of impending doom for all. The gore is ridiculous and over-the-top, the zombies shuffle maddeningly slow, and the lead actress is Mia Farrow's sister. Add in several awesome set pieces--zombie vs. shark, eye-piercing sequence, zombie conquistadors rising from their graves in the daylight--and you've got horror exploitation par excellence. Bravissimo!
