Perfect cast of Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin, and of course the always humorous Bill Murray. Well written. Awesome action and violence. Great humor. A seriously a great film! One of the best comedies of 2009.

And also, I don't know much about the zombie movie rules, but I'm smart enough to know that if you turn on all the lights at an amusement park, it's probably going to attract something.

  This movie has many things I love: it's a zombie movie, it's a road movie, it's a horror comedy, it's gory, but at the same time, it has some substance, but it's not overbearing. Mostly this movie is just really fun and hugely entertaining, which is probably the most important factor. The script is decent, and contains the right amount of wit and quirk without seeming derivative. There's sone real cleverness with the title sequence and the presentation of Columbus' "rules"-they are flashy, yet remain the punction, not the sentence. The performances are great. Each player is perfect for their respective roles. Jesse Eisenberg rivals only Michael Cera for the king of deadpan geeky quirk. It isn't for me as good as Romero's stuff or Shaun of the Dead, but it takes the best from each camp, and makes it into its own little thing. The wonderful not quite a surprise cameo around the middle definitely serves as the cherry on top of a beautiful mound of ice cream, but the soundtrack kicks much ass as well- especially the usage of one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands during the opening credits sequence. Obviously I recommend this movie, so do yourself a favor, and check it out. There are far worse ways to spend a night at home.

  A repressed computer geek teams up with a gun toting redneck and a pair of con artists to escape the horde of zombies that now populate the country. Zombieland feels all the world like one of those American remakes of a successful British project, namely Shaun Of The Dead. A team of US marketing "experts" took the idea and threw out any references to British indie music and replaced it with Willie Nelson and screaming metal guitar solos, threw out the slackers and replaced them with the ubiquitous comedy trailer trash and neurotic nerd stereotypes and threw out the old school shambling zombies and replaced them with gore riddled, hyperactive speed freaks that have unfortunately come to replace them. The result is My Name Is Earl with the undead and it's a bit like Zack Snyder's make over of Dawn Of The Dead with jokes. It's certainly very well made and definitely has some great moments, but I'm getting a little tired of the Eisenberg nerd (who is EXACTLY the same in everything he does) and it's so very predictable from beginning to end. Not a bad little diversion, but I felt the same way about the film as a whole as I did about the infamous Bill Murray cameo...is that REALLY what everyone's been going on about all this time?

Not to be confused with Shaun of the Dead which is a deliberate spoof of the genre Zombieland is in. Within Zombieland's genre it is one of the best.

  I have to say I was a bit disappointed. Shaun of the Dead is a favourite of mine so I never expected it to surpass it but I had hoped that it would at least compete. There was such huge potential after all, as funny and original as the whole Bill Murry thing was, it just didn't work in my opinion and the film never really knew what it wanted to be. I thought the use of typography was clever but it's not original, the pace was too jerky, the trashing of the shop was stupid and pointless and angered me slightly and the acting/casting could have been better. I had no problem with Woody Harrelson but Jesse Eisenberg isn't funny (Michael Cera would have been a better choice in my opinion), Emma Stone acts like a stone and Abigail Breslin seems to have grown out of her darling stage and them some. By the end of the film I couldn't care less about the characters and it looked less like a comedy/horror/comedy-horror and more like a computer game. Watch Shaun of the Dead and/or play Dead Rising on the PS2/Wii/Xbox instead.

  This movie is just entertaining. It is not laugh out loud funny and the writing is far from perfect. However, with an intriguing premise for a comedy, Eisenberg's funny acting/narration, and good support from Harrelson, Stone and Breslin, this movie is enjoyable.

  Zombieland is a lot better than I originally saw it. It's such a fun, well paced comedy that never really has any bad moments. It's just 90 minutes of great jokes, easy to love characters and enough zombie violence to satisfy anyone's wants and needs. I think I initially wasn't crazy about Jesse Eisenberg's character, but it's total dynamite looking back. Then there's Woody Harrelson as a bloodthirsty redneck; I honestly think this is the most I've ever liked him in a movie for some reason. Lastly, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin do a nice job as supporting roles. Visually, this movie is miles ahead of say Shaun of the Dead, but there was obviously a bigger budget and stress put on making this Zombie apocalypse look great and extremely realistic. The story also plays into this due to the fact that the problems facing the characters are all extremely dramatic and serious; making for a unique twist in the horror/comedy genre. Most of the time the comedy is so farcical that you don't think of the characters or story as being anywhere near serious, but this is. You feel the loss and hopelessness of the characters and that makes it stand out. Obviously this movie is blessed with some amazing pacing and it's one of the easiest flowing scenarios that the zombie apocalypse has produced. Overall, it's hard not to like Zombieland in some way, shape or form because it's trying so many new things with an old genre. It manages to retain a lot of heart within the goofiness. It would've been easy to make this an American counterpart to Shaun of the Dead, but that's not what this is at all.

  A hilarious film thats has so many random moments that we never know what happens next. The cameo of Bill Murray is classic. Woody Harrelson was the show stealer, he was funny, badass, and cool. Jesse Eisenberg is quirky but great. Emma Stone is a tricky and sexy badass. Abigail Breslin is cool and one tough little girl. The plot may be short, but it certainly shines while it lasts. The best zombie film ever I think.

  Not remotely as awful as I thought it'd be, in fact, it was great! There are some genuinely funny skits and dialogue in this zombie-survival movie. Obviously not the first of its kind but there's enough style, originality to it's characters and bizarrely family-feel-good story that make this film shine. The mash up of comedy/zombie/road-trip/family genres work so well together in this flick it's hard to really not like any of it. Eisenberg makes the perfect apathetic shut-in by the way.

  Zombie flicks have always had an underlying sense of humour throughout them, which has also made them perfect fodder for an out and out comedy. "Shaun of the Dead" was a British attempt at it and this, in some ways, could be seen as it's American cousin. A virus has swept the world and turned 99% of the population into ravenous zombies. A few "normal" humans remain, like young Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), who hooks up with a gun-toting zombie-eradicator named Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson). Their road trip gets detoured when they encounter two savvy sisters Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) heading for an amusement park in California. This film had me hooked from the beginning with it's excellent fun packed introduction complete with Eisenberg's life saving "rules" to surviving a now over populated world of Zombies and a hilarious slow-motion credit sequence with zombies, of all kinds, chowing down. As it progresses though, it begins to run out of ideas becoming a bit uneventful. This is mainly due to the characters having no real purpose in their lives and are left to just waste time on their travels. As a result it becomes a little stale but the arrival of a cameo appearance by Bill Murray playing himself, lightens up the proceedings and the amusement park finale is pure excitement. A perfect way to see our Zombies friends meet their fate. The four actors all put in good performances. Harrelson gets the juicy role but it's Eisenberg who really shines, combining comedy with drama effortlessly. It's good to see that he is getting some choice roles and continues his good streak. Ruben Fleischer does a fantastic job here and is definitely a director to watch. He has a creative and fun-filled visual style that keeps this film going, despite some periodic lulls. Zombie fans should find plenty of enjoyment and fans of comedy won't be displeased either. Roll on the sequel.

At the beginning during the credits there is an awesome zombie montage set to Metallicas, "For Whom the Bell Tolls." I remember the first time I saw Zombieland, after tha montage I knew the movie was going to be great and I did go in a little skeptical. Zombieland does everything right. Jesse Eisenberg is very good as his usual self. "When you're afraid of everything that's out there, you quit going out there. Which is what happened to me before Zombieland. Friday night. Third straight week indoors. World of Warcraft. Leaning tower of pizza boxes. Code red Mountain Dew. Pride? No where. Dignity? Long gone. Virginity? Totally justifyable to speculate on." Emma Stone gave her breakout performance as Witchita and Woody Harrelson is a complete badass with a soft side for twinkies. Bill Murray has a great cameo in one of the funniest scenes in the movie. I can't wait to see the next collaboration between director Ruben Fleischer and Jesse Eisenberg that is due out this year.

  I personally like zombie movies that try to be scary than ones mix with comedy, but this is a huge exception. Jesse+Emma+Woody+Abigail+Zombies= A really good fucking movie
